Starting with Java Update 40, Oracle allows you to disable the pop-up box that prompts users in-browser that their Java is out of date. Java "Option to disable the "JRE out of date" warning Starting from 7u40, a new deployment property deployment.expiration.check.enabled is available. This property can be used to disable the "JRE out of date" warning. When the installed JRE (7u10 or later), falls below the security baseline or passes it's built-in expiration date, an additional warning is shown to users to update their installed JRE to the latest version. For businesses that manage the update process centrally, users attempting to update their JRE individually, may cause problems. To suppress this specific warning message, add the following entry in the deployment properties file: Code: deployment.expiration.check.enabled=false" I use ORCA to create a .mst file to deploy with the .MSI file via Group policy I change the following properties: Autoupdatecheck = 0 IEXPLORER = 1 JAVAUPDATE = 0 JU = 0 MOZILLA = 1 WEB_JAVA_SECURITY_LEVEL = M (add a new property & Value) Should I add another property called "Deployment_Expiration_check_enabled" = False ? I'd rather not have to create another group policy to change the registry key of "deployment.expiration.check.enabled=false" What is the best practice? *none of our clients have SCCM

Oh I know... Already have clients who can't access the web app because the web part prompts for an update (no "clean" way to disable that). Also this update is still getting held up at "Please Wait" or "Installing Java 51" for about 90 mins.... Any ideas on how to fix it? I'm applying a transformation with just basic settings (disabling autoupdates / checking yes for I.E. and Mozilla / and adding "REMOVEEXISTING = 1 " to the end.

So did anyone wind up finding a solution for J7u45 getting pushed out through Group Policy? I'm still stuck at "Please wait"

I tried completely removing the previous java manually on 2 machines. It still gets stuck at the "Please Wait" 45min wait. In looking up this issue, previous versions had the same problem...the solution: Wait til next update and skip this deployment. So I guess January 17th can't come soon enough.

I'm actually encountering this currently as well. In testing on a few machines before a full pushout. I did the following: 1) extracted offline installers of Java x86 & x64 2) Created transformations using ORCA and applied them in the GPO. 2.1) The transformations include: Property: -AUTOUPDATECHECK 0 -IEXPLORER 1 -JAVAUPDATE 0 -JU 0 -MOZILLA 1 3) Disabled x86 Java from installing on 64bit machines. 4) Deployed on test xp and Win 7 machines and gets held up at the "Please wait" or if you enable verbose status messaging, "Installing Java Update v45" *After leaving the computer for over an hour, it cancels and yields an error with Java not being able to be installed. *I don't run an uninstall command beforehand, I just let the Java update push and hopefully do it. -I'm thinking there has to be some kind of new setting to configure when deploying.
