Can't see anything in their terms about data harvesting. However, they do seem to offer a lot of other paid software.

Has anyone had any experience of this web filtering extension on Chrome and Chrome OS? Seems to work very well, and does a lot for a free extension. Wonder what the catch is? Cheers

Job Vacancies at Bruton School for Girls BACKGROUND Bruton School for Girls was founded in 1900 and occupies an attractive site on the outskirts of this small town in south-east Somerset. The school caters for girls between the ages of 3 and 18 and for boys between 3 and 7. Those in Year 6 and below are members of Sunny Hill Preparatory School, are located on the same campus as, and are an integral part of, BSG. Bruton School for Girls is looking to recruit an ICT manager to manage the delivery and development of information and communication technology to meet the strategic requirements for the education, business and administrative activities of the school. THE ROLE The ICT Manager is the functional manager of the part-time ICT Technician and is the ICT budget holder. This is a full-time post. Hours of work are not specified, but the post-holder will be expected to devote whatever time is required to fulfil the role. However, a target 37.5-hour week (Monday to Friday) should be taken as the norm. The post will ideally commence in August/September 2019 with a handover from the current incumbent, but the school will wait for the right candidate. The post is subject to a six-month probationary period. The salary will be in the region of £32k pa as at current rates and dependent on experience. Holiday entitlement will be 30 days per annum, plus statutory holidays, However, the post holder will be required to work the Mayday bank holiday for an open day in which a day in lieu will be granted in return. SYSTEMS ENVIRONMENT The school is currently running a Microsoft Windows environment that consists of 200 pcs, 6 physical servers, 23 virtual servers, HP Procurve managed switches split into VLANs and a Unifi WiFi solution, including BYOD WiFi connectivity. Telephony is provided by an Alcatel digital phone system with a SIP conversion. The school uses Microsoft Hyper-V for the virtual hypervisor with a mirrored SAN (Datacore) and NAS appliances. The desktops are running a mixture of mostly Windows 10 with some legacy Windows 7 machines and ancillary visual equipment The school’s MIS is SchoolBase and the finance packages are supplied by Capita (Sims). Remote connections are provided by Home Access Plus software, and a staff VPN linked to terminal services. The VLE is built on SharePoint.. The Email system is a hybrid Microsoft Exchange solution. For data backup, the school use Microsoft DPM and Qnap Qsync , utilizing both disc and tape technologies. The firewall is pfSense also running Snort for intrusion evasion detection . Web filtering is IBOSS, and all machines are protected by Thor Foresight and Microsoft virus and threat protection. PERSON SPECIFICATION The selection of candidates will be based on this specification and candidates should bear this in mind when completing their application form. Specialist ICT Administration, support skills and Experience. It is essential that the successful candidate should have a proven track record in the management and development of ICT systems for multiple users with differing service requirements. It is considered desirable that the successful candidate has experience in working in a similar environment. It is desirable that the successful candidate should have ITIL skills and a successful record of project management, and/or Microsoft certification would be beneficial, but no qualification will trump that of relevant and recent experience. It is considered highly desirable to have experience in the management of resources (both human and material) within budgetary limits. It is essential to have first class communication skills in presenting cases for investment and development and in liaison with staff. I can't see what to remove under the IIS7 section. I only removed the section where it says for IIS8 - remove this section - which I have done because I am using IIS8. - still the same issue. Please help.

Hello, So I have started fresh with a HAP V10.0 install with Server 2012 R2 and IIS 8 Everything seemed to be going OK until I edited the web.config to remove the settings for IIS8 to work. When I try and run HAP I get this: Any ideas anyone? Thanks

Yes - seems to be working fine. Management tab working, have set up Home Folders and S drive all good - The HAP config is all ticked. Server 2012 R2 IIS 8.5

OK - 10.5 so far so good. In the " my files " section, it does not freeze works as it should. I have HAP version 9 running on a live server and the plan was to migrate to 10 by creating a new server etc. So far all seems to good.

OK - so I removed and put the 10.5 update in its place then did the read only. Now getting this come up. its strange because I took the IIS part of the config out when I first installed 10.6 The part of the config that HAP has a problem with is not in my config.

Hi Tim, Thanks for that. Tried that and still the same - Guess I am going to have to destroy the sever and try again from scratch. I managed to get 10.6 to work. However, in the files section all that was seen were dots across the screen and noting happening, so I removed all the files and placed in the files from 10.5 which is when I got this error.

Hello, I Am trying to install 10.5. I initially installed 10.6, but it had the problem with the dots on the file manager, So I copied out the config file removed everything from the HAP folder, then extracted in 10.5 in to the hap folder. I am now just getting Text when I launch HAP instead of the graphics. Can anyone help?

Hi, I have had HAP running for a while now with no issues and have not changed anything. However, I have today gone to add a new mapping and am getting an error message - I have not done anything different to what I have always done, which is to add the drive, give it a drive letter, put in the correct UNC then click on enable read to and select it to the default of " all " and the same with the Enable to field. When I hit save I cam getting this error: The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: There was an error while trying to deserialize parameter HAP.Web.API:drive. The InnerException message was 'There was an error deserializing the object of type System.String. The token ':' was expected but found ','.'. Please see InnerException for more details. It remembers the Drive Map, but the " All " does not appear in the fields which results in the drive not being available. When I try and remove the whole thing to start again, I am getting the same error. Any help would be great! Thanks.

OK - we think we are on to the problem - its more GP than Windows 7

Hi All, We have some Dell OptiPlex 7010 Running Windows 7/32 Enterprise. They're i5's running Smart Panels through Displayport to HDMI adaptors. All teachers profiles are roaming and when a teacher logs on to these said machines - the Displayport Audio function disappears, forcing them to use USB Audio which has proven to be a bit unreliable with drop outs etc. When I log on the machines with Domain Admin - the option to use Displayport Audio is there and it can be used with no issues, so I am guessing we have a permissions / roaming profile issue here? Troubleshooting I have done: Logged in with our test roaming profile account, gone in to playback devices and made sure that disabled and disconnected devices are ticked. Made my test roaming profile account local admin on the machine. Checked device manager to see if it shows up - it does not - does as Admin. Checked the Sound and Audio third party settings. I am at a bit of a loss, but possibly think that a registry entry or permission may needed to be added / changed to get this to work? Has anyone had any experience of this and if so, how did they fix? Cheers

Hi all, We have had a recent outbreak of Malware ( a variant of Crypto Locker) on our network. We have endpoint, server security plus extra security. At present we are unable to find a rouge machine on our network. However, have had to recover most of the contents of our shared drive back from backups twice! Of course this virus normally infects by someone opening an attachment and I also know that it can't spread to networks shares via UNC path but can via a mapped drive. We use HAP + here and my question is that would it be possible for it to be transferred using HAP by an outside rouge machine, HAP + is set to map to our S:/ drive. Any help would be great Thanks.

Hi All, I am looking for an access developer to fix a simple stock inventory database that was created in-house a long time ago. The database itself is old and long in the tooth, so I am looking for someone to ideally have a look to see if it can be fixed and if not create a new one for us. We have a budget of around £1000 for someone to either get the existing one working or to make us a new one. Please PM me for further details.

We currently have a VLE built in SharePoint. All of the school main calendars are managed and updated using SharePoint. We are looking to export some of these calendars to .ics feeds. However, SharePoint does not natively support this and uses RSS feeds which is no good for us. There is an option to connect a SharePoint Calendar to Outlook and I was hoping that you might be able to use this to publish it online as an .ics feed. The option in Outlook becomes greyed out when the SharePoint calendar is selected. I suspect the reason is because the SharePoint Calendar is not hitting Outlook as an .ics feed. I have also looked at doing it the other way round and using Calendar overlays in SharePoint. However, it only works for the user that is logged on at the time, everyone needs to see the School Calendar. Apart from investing in some SharePoint Development. Does anyone have any ideas on how we can achieve a solution? Thanks.
