We have a Kyocera 6026MFP colour laser with paper jam issues at fuser. What happens is only when there is heavy colour such as a blue header band as with white text forming title at top of page. The toner on page sticks to the fuser roller meaning the paper jams in the fuser instead of passing through. All general letter type prints colour or otherwise work fine but if a page has a heavy block of colour it sticks and jams. Fuser assembly looks undamaged roller surfaces are still smooth and unscored so not sure why this happens. We do use 3rd party toners but they are ok in other printers of same type and this failing document printer OK in other printers of same model. Could be toner quality or poor fuser surface or wrong fuser temp maybe not sure. Has anyone else experienced this?

Receiving French TV on Eutelsat 5W
richardg7vyi replied to richardg7vyi's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Yes it's strange. It's a bit like UK free sat. Some of the channels on that are encrypted by Sky but free to air on terrestrial. f the department wants a wider range of channels to use for teaching material they would be best getting the Fransat card. I know they mourned the loss of TF1 when that went off FTA and there is a wide range of channels on Fransat. We'll see what they want to do. Thanks for the information. -
Receiving French TV on Eutelsat 5W

OK thanks Michael. We've been using 5W for some years too but on SD. Its the recent move to HD and ceasing the SD transmission that means we've got to decide what receiver they need. I'm getting the languages department to discuss what they want to be able to receive. It looks to me like there are 3 or 4 FTA channels in HD but things like TF1 and some of the others are now encrypted only so you need the Fransat card for them. -

Oh right. Thanks for that info. Will have to look at some boxes and see what input they require. Goal posts seem to keep moving all the time with Satellite. Channels moving frequency and modes and different receiver requirement. -

If they are PVR receivers I think they will. Maybe an issue as the language classrooms only have one LNB feed currently. Only affecting France TV at moment. German teachers seems to have plenty of SD content still on Astra and Hotbird. -
Recently French TV channels France 2,3,4 & O have moved off SD over to HD transmissions only. Can anyone tell me do you now need a receiver with a Fransat card to receive the HD versions or will a standard Free To Air HD receiver receive them OK without a card? None of our receivers are HD and havent't got one to test it with at present. Looking on Lyngsat pages it looks like they aren't encrypted.

Has anyone encountered this at all. We use Sanako Study 1200 for listening exams. Windows 7 with Sanako Version 8 software. Randomly during recent exams students have lost sound from player in the Sanako Headsets. I found by chance yesterday that simply clicking on workstation in teacher console then closing the little pop up control window again restored sound instantly. 7 workstations out of 24 went down yesterday at random time intervals during exam ranging from minutes in to an hour or more in. Sanako say it's not a known issue to them and I'm finding I'm unable to reproduce it to try and prove anything. Trying to not do anything drastic unnecessarily as there's only a few days between exams at moment.

Extending USB beyond 5M what are people using?
richardg7vyi replied to richardg7vyi's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Yes it's strange. When we first installed these interactive projectors that's what I used firstly ones with no seperate power supply. With Epson no issues at all. When we moved to Hitachi I found they were ok as long as at the projector end there was no more that 1/2 metre USB patch cable to projector from cat5 to USB converter. Then when some later ones were installed by a contractor using the same converters as me I found they would not work properly. Eventually we got them changed to USB2 over cat 5 with a power adapter at receiving end and these worked ok after we disabled ECO setting on projector which seemed to cause issues with USB comms at power up from standby. Then since then We have had projectors of same type in and I've had issues getting them to work properly even with same converters. They work over a 5m USB direct but refuse to work properly even over a short cat5 cable with converters. Its as though there maybe some latency or bidirectional aspect that doesn't carry properly over the cat5 converter. The newer projectors have a USB drive built in which appears as a CD drive from which it seems to load up a driver from an autorun which fires up the pen side of things and auto calibrates the projector. What I tend to find is the software sees the projector itself but these USB drives don't appear and driver then doesn't run so the projector pen does not work. It's very frustating as I haven't found a USB connection formula that works every time at the moment. -
Extending USB beyond 5M what are people using?
richardg7vyi replied to richardg7vyi's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Thanks for the replies. Sounds like people use the same sort of devices I've used. I think the Hitachi interactive projectors are just a bit fussy about their USB connections and only work if its just right. Epson ones seemed less fussy. -
Can anyone recommend a reliable solution for extending USB for use with Interactive classroom equipment. We have a lot of interactive projectors mostly Hitachi but some Epson too. Early Hitachi's were IPJ-AW250N and CP-AW2519N the latest Hitachis are CP-TW2503 and we have a few Epson EB-450 and 475 Wi ones The first devices that went in I installed an unpowered USB 1 over cat5 adapter and apart from being a little slower comms than recommended they all worked fine although USB patch lead length at either end had to be the very shortest possible otherwise it didn't work. I then found these adapter devices would not work properly with next generation of Hitachi interactive projectors but a powered USB 2 over cat 5 device did. Then in other settings exactly the same setup refuses to work properly this time. I've found sometimes Eco settings on the projector powering everything off causes issues with USB comms initialising and turning off all the Eco settings solves it. With more interactive systems going in it is proving a challenge in each room as teacher computers are rarely within 5m reach of the projector up on the wall.

Just had a really weird one here. We have a recently installed Hitachi Interactive Projector running Starboard software in physics lab on a teachers windows 10 pc. This is one of many we now have around the site in different faculties. The department uses Data Harvest Easy sense boxes for some experiments etc. When the teacher has connected the Easy sense box to this classroom computer via its USB port it seems to have caused some sort of conflict with the projector usb comms. Teacher reports something along lines of a message saying cannot detect projector and also the easy sense box cannot be found by the data harvest software. This happened with 2 different Easy Sense boxes which now appear to have been rendered non operational when connected to another PC. Now proceeding with caution as it appears it may have blown £200 worth of easy sense boxes already so it's difficult to prove whats happening without risking damage to some more. Has anybody else experienced any sort of issue software or hardware wise between these boxes and Hitachi starboard software or projectors as it's nothing I've seen before?

Promethean board and Active USB extension
richardg7vyi replied to richardg7vyi's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Got this working in the end. Removed the USB repeater and pulled slack through on board USB cable to plug direct into computer. I then found board would not even show a power light unless repeater was put back in line. I discovered the installer had used a short USB cable and extension giving about 3M behind board originally fed into an AV wall box. I pulled this out and replaced with a descent 5M USB cable, bypassed AV wall box and fed straight to PC. Board now powered up OK and responded fine. According to teacher now seems to be working OK. Seems coupled USB cable was poor resulting in board not running properly.- 1 reply

We have an Activeboard 300 that has been re-sited recently and is now beyond 5m USB limit. I've got it working with an active USB extender. However the user is now experiencing issues with pen right clicking while using it. We have changed pen but problem persists. I've read an earlier thread about USB extensions being a bit iffy with these boards but wonder if anyone has known them cause funny issues with pen control like we are experiencing with this one since we added the extension.

Hitachi projector Standby audio setting greyed out
richardg7vyi replied to richardg7vyi's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
I have now resolved this problem. It is as suggested by bald_pig the setting of Standby mode. I had only looked at the Eco settings before. Standby Mode is only listed under Advanced Menu>Setup then the Standby Mode option. Set this to Normal and the audio setting for standby become accessible. All working now. Funnily enough later this morning I had an email back from Hitachi from my enquiry a few days ago suggesting the same and showing location of menu setting. -
Hitachi projector Standby audio setting greyed out
richardg7vyi replied to richardg7vyi's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
I did try playing with those settings before and it didn't seem to change anything. I wonder though if it needs power cycling after changing it? Couldn't seem to find anything on google the other day. I've now discovered another projector of a different model doing the same. So must be a setup issue somewhere. -
Hitachi projector Standby audio setting greyed out
richardg7vyi replied to richardg7vyi's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
That has always been my preference to wire speakers directly not via projector on previous installations. However we are now in some cases using wireless HDMI video devices to allow teachers' MS Surfaces to connect to projectors. This routes sound via HDMI into the projector so it was decided that sound should be routed through the projector to external speakers for all. I have bypassed the projector in some cases where issues have occurred as It does seem to attenuate the audio slightly in standby too which was bringing complaints from the music department. -
Hitachi projector Standby audio setting greyed out
richardg7vyi replied to richardg7vyi's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Hi Anthony Current connection is PC (computer1 and stereo jack audio) > projector > speakers on wall. On other projectors of same model we have selected the appropriate audio source for the standby audio setting and sound is still relayed out to external speakers when projector in standby. On this particular projector though the standby sound option is greyed out in the menu so you cannot select it to set the option for some reason. -
We have some new Hitachi short throw interactive projectors. The audio is fed through the projectors and I want to set audio from PC to be passed through in standby. This is normally done by going to audio settings and stepping down to the standby option to select an audio source and that's it job done. This has worked on the other projectors. However on one projector this option is in menu but greyed out with setting defaulted to muted audio in standby . I've reset all settings to default and tried again but still the same greyed out option. Has anyone any idea why this might be, as I've failed to get a reply from Hitachi at present?

One of our faculties has the above printer that intermittently reports a F24B power off/on error . This error has occurred on a couple of occasions and circumstances last time led me to believe it was a problem with a particular document but have also seen comments that it could be a memory error on the printer. Has anyone else encountered this error and found a cause?

Can anyone help me out with this one. I'm trying to find a recording of Inside Boodles, it was on the 23rd March 2014 on Channel 4. Our business studies department is looking for it. Regards Richard.

Anyone got an Epson Interactive Projector?
richardg7vyi replied to TechSupp's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
We have a number of Epson ones that have worked ok. The only complaint I have had is that the bundled interactive software isn't brilliant. I did find I had insufficient ceiling height above boards when installing requiring a recess to be made in suspended ceiling in some rooms. An alternative I have used is Hitachi interactive projectors bundled with Starboard software which is better. These didn't seem to need mounting quite so high for same image size.
