D'oh! Good shout - our firewall was denying access to a .js file for that page. Do you mind if I drop you a PM re: osTicket, to get your opinion etc in a little more depth?

Out of curiosity, does their download page work properly for you? I can get on it and download it, but the language packs and plugins tabs won't load for me! This across IE, Firefox, and Chrome. Quite odd. I'll be in the market for a new helpdesk soon. We're running an ancient version of Hornbill SupportWorks on an equally ancient P3 box with with some funky RAID on there, and the license is hardware tied, and Hornbill want £18k+ just to even let us virtualise it. We're running a few pieces of NetSupport software, so I'll of course look at their ServiceDesk, but I'm sure I'll be told I have the grand budget of free to sort it out.

Classroom Management Software?
aceonbass replied to jbutlin's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Are your computers called the same in AD, then? We've got automatic naming via a BIOS query for the serial number. Our computers are neatly arranged in AD via a multitude of OUs, but Impero can only deal with one domain, so we can't just go under each one to quickly grab them as it's looking at our staff domain for security. -
Classroom Management Software?
aceonbass replied to jbutlin's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Is anyone using LanSchool en-masse? I've just started looking over the documentation, and, whilst it's great they're offering silent installs where we can customise everything, it looks like I'm going to have to maintain an install per-room? This seems like quite the admin overhead, especially considering they only allow integers for their channel numbers, so we'll have to maintain a database of room numbers against channel numbers. Not quite impressed so far... Also, does anyone actually have "teacher machines" in classrooms any more? All our staff have laptops so take with them room-to-room. -
Windows 10 Education VS Enterprise - Response from MS
aceonbass replied to dblight's topic in Windows 10
We noticed on our VLSC, under "License Summary" that we now have explicit mentions of Windows. We have 10 Education and 10 Enterprise LTSB, whereas before today we had a "Bundle - Desktop Education" which was Software Assured against double our FTE count. I think we're just going to push Education version out, as we've just trialled a student machine and it's activated fine via KMS etc. -
365 ProPlus licensing and Office 2016 for Mac
aceonbass replied to aceonbass's topic in Cloud Services
Did you have to do anything with your tenant to make it work? -
Since Office 2016 had been made available to Macs via Office 365, myself and a couple of staff have tried to authenticate after installing but don't seem to be able to. We enter the username, get redirected to our ADFS servers as expected, it accepts credentials but then complains about "No credentials: The system requires that you sign on to a valid account". The account is a valid account, has the ProPlus license assigned and if you log into the Office Portal with the same credentials, you're offered to download Office 2016. Has anyone else tried with Office 2016 for Mac yet? I'm not hearing any complaints from students as most seem to have Windows laptops.

We've found that our Win7 Vmware View/Horizon deployment has guaranteed that exams, both AAT and C&G SecureAssess, go without issue. One thing I'd recommend checking is that the SQL Compact components are SP2. With SP1 we found even some Win7 machines were having freezing issues. SP1 is bundled with the SecureAssess installers so we made some SCCM configuration baselines to ensure SP2 was installed for anything running locally. That said, we've now made a push to ensure all exams are done through Horizon. You can also disable the exam writing to the local disk (the clients download a SQL database version of the exam, and all answers are written to that database, as well as posting the answer to the AAT/C&G servers) by changing one of the XML configuration files within the install directories. I can't remember the exact path off-hand, but if you dig around, that option has values of 0, 1, or 2 and mentions something about web or integrity in the comment just above.

Hi James, If I could jump in on this topic, I have a similar issue and I'll need your help to change this ImmutableID without losing any data! A quick overview: * Setup our students only in 365 last year, using DirSync, with completely default values. * This year, adding in our staff (separate forest) I changed to AADSync, in which I also changed the "sourceAnchor" value to "extensionAttribute5" ** This was done, rightly or wrongly, just in case the ObjectGuid ever clashed over the two forests. This attribute set to complete unique values and accounts will never be moved between the forests * Now, AADSync can add/sync our staff without issue, but obviously not students, as their ImmutableID is still the Base64String version of their AD ObjectGUID. ** Tried to set this with a Powershell script (nice and easy) but can't due to "PropertyNotSettableException". If you can help out with this, that would be fantastic - I would guess we'll need to switch to private message/email etc to discuss this. I've got a script "ready to go" to blast our accounts with the new values. Thanks in advance.

As a follow up, one of our technicians just got off the phone with WJEC and all they will tell us is that Window 8.1 isn't a supported platform. They've tested themselves and run into the same freezing issue but that's all they'll tell us. Whether or not this is due to us not being a centre with them, I'm not sure.
-
Thanks - not aware of anything that's been sent via AAT/C&G/EAL but I'm not the main contact for exams, I've just been brought in on the issue (IT). I may give WJEC a call and see if they can tell us anything.
-
Sorry - forgot to follow this up. We're not using a SecureAssess server, we just use the clients which are online exams. a70sdude, the issue is similar but we don't get the "loading" or "attempting to reconnect" messages, the clients just freeze. We're still looking at these issues going on. We've put in a VDi infrastructure with Windows 7 virtual desktops with the out of date IE and Flash Players which seems to have stopped these issues. However this is only a limited test and has revolved mostly around the AAT version. No real luck with Win 8.1x64 yet.

Hi all, We're currently running SecureAssess for multiple exam boards (AAT, EAL, C&G etc) and we're hitting freezing issues in almost all exams. The SecureAssess software will hang and become unresponsive in the middle of exams yet the rest of the OS is completely fine. We're slightly outside of the supported platforms so this is more of a thread to see if anyone has a fix but: Win 8.1 Update x64 (they say they support Vista, 7 and 8 32- and 64-bit, so this may exclude 8.1) IE 11 (they support 7-10) Flash Player 16 (they support up to 11.8.800.94 - released Jul 2013!) We also have multiple versions installed on the same machines. I'm hoping we can get these working without issue under 8.1 as we don't have the luxury of dedicated exams rooms, so the classrooms used to take exams must also function normally, and our standard build is Win8.1. We have a potential solution using VMware View but this is tying up valuable licenses and it's completely overkill that we have to devise a complete View setup just because BTL can't be bothered to test/release for even slightly up-to-date software. BTL won't talk to us directly, and tell it's up to the exam boards to escalate the call if they feel necessary but considering we're running outside of their "supported platforms" they aren't forthcoming in doing so. Anyone else with similar issues?

We only sync a specific OU from our domain so DirSync deletes the account once our on-site maintenance scripts move the Alumni out of that OU. We automatically expire a users account 45 days after their course ends, and move them a further 15 days later. This gives us a suitable window in case the students decide to re-enrol and don't do so in the normal timeframe.
