how about if you gpupdate the local machines?

sorry if i'm teaching a granny to suck eggs... have you tried gpupdate /force?

sounds obout right for the same as what we paid... plus a bit more for the other ap's... i love the fact that its not be touched unless i wanted another ap installed... that was sooo easy anyway literally plug and play... the aps automatically pick up the management utiltity and pick up the settings and are ready a few minutes later...

I don't even install the other utilities... the windows one works very well... it even allows you to use older cards with the WPA if the client doesn't support it...

I have a bluesocket system installed... with about 20 WAPs... it works fine and i don't have to do anything with it... its AD linked so even if someone got a laptop connected to to the network they'd have to be able to log onto the domain to gain access to anything...

what about adding a link in the hosts file pointing the domain to that ip?

Hi, is there a way of getting the computers/servers to log when and where accounts are logged in? if so how do i do it... if not... why? thanks in advance

Thats what i thought about battlefiend 1942... there's a lot of historical battles recreated and quite a lot of information at the start or every battle about the real event...

i have been thinking baout sending a generic letter home with the students asking parental permission to play the games... its a tad annoying when kids yr7s come in and ask if we can play CoD4 though....

Most of the kids want a first person, a strategy and a racing game... i'm going for Halflife or Quake/age of empires/ midtown madness 2 Is there a way of installing these on a share on a server and then getting the kids to play from there? (basically so i can stop the games from being played at other times...) i know its possible with aoe... its what we had when i was at secondary school lol! just can't figure out how atm... any ideas?

Shockingly enough i have never played quake.... i always played halflife, which i know is based on a 'heavily modified quake engine'... i take it i would need a host pc/server for the game as well as the clients... I have been looking at: Age of Empires 1 & 2 Midtown Madness 2 Halflife Battlefield 1942 Starcraft Any other good games that would be good for a 50min session? Plus they have to be able to run on SIS 730 GFX cards PC's themselves are ok ranging from Athlon 2800+ M to some sempron 3300+, all with at least 512mb ram... most 1gb...

we have [email protected] as email and logon is first.last... the way we oganise the accounts is al setup in active directry used users>pupils>year intake.. is 2007 intake = yr7 etc...

now thats interesting coment... most of the kids don't like me coz i stop them doing all the fun things... then again a lot of the kids respect the authority... in my old post i had 50 women who hated the thought of having to work with a decent password policy... it took a couple of moths for them to get used to the system and they got on with it... NB - is it possible to set up a system so that all login's can be recorded and programs run are logged also? i've never used it before and school administration is a lil different to what i'm used to...

Hi all i'm trying to find out what the current legislation is on passwords and automatic resets... in my old job i worked for charity dealing with disabled people and we had best practice rulings as to passwords.. ie 24 password memory, min 8 characters, must have 3 different types of character, 40 day reset. in my new place i have absolutely nothing in place... any advice?

the server when logged on locally responds as normal and doesn't seem affected... i'll look into the hp log... i didn't know it existed.. cheers for the tip!

SIMS aren't being very helpful and our support contract company can't find anything wrong...

there is nothing in the the system log, but the server will stop responding to anything from the network... all the mapped drives and spplication connections fail asthough the network connection drops out... it carries on responding to pings and as soon as the server is restarted it runs fine... the problem is that there is no pattern it can be few hours to few days before it fails...

the ones that came on the bootcamp disk - RealTek High Definition Audio Driver 07/05/2007, 5.10.0.5440 have you tried everest to find out what audio chipset you are using?

the server is a HP DL380 2x Xeon 5130 (2.0Ghz) (4 CPU) 2gb RAM...

Thanks for your advice but all the server is running is sims and integris... both SIMS and integris have said they should work together fine... my understanding of integris is that all the server actually does is hosts the database files... all the work is done on the client machines... SIMS is currently installed using SQL server 2005 express, i wondered if this could be the issue but SIMS say it should work fine...

Hi All my school dicided before xmas to get SIMS instead of integris... they have now been installed together on our admin server... since the install the server has become incredibly unresponsive, and keeps falling over and needing restarts... has anyone else has a similar problem? how did you solve it? i'm on the verge of a complete server rebuild... thanks in advance

Yes they are the 13.3" variants... 1.83/2x256/60/COMBO:WHITE-GBR EMC#2092 All mine are vanila installs with XP only... i did a raw install of OSX, then installed bootcamp, made the driver CD and then formatted the entire HDD and did a fresh install of windows only and then used the driver cd to install the drivers... then installed all the other software... the only issue i have is that you cannot change the screen brightness from the taskbar anymore... (you can adjust it from the intel graphics menu though) so its not a big issue... i set it to the middle and everything seems to be fine...

What i ean is they wont pay any more money so that the Macs can use OSX and connect with our domain... like everyone has said i need an apple server for them to connect through but the school will not buy it... they work perfectly... incidently i had to return a few of them under warrenty to PC World... recieved a nice message on them: "The backspace key can be used to emulate the delete key in combinating with the FN key. This will work fine withing OSX and Windows but not on the login screens" My question is... I sent 3 back with keyboard and battery errors... i have another 27 working perfectly USING the CTRL + ALT + BACKSPACE conbination to log in... After re-imaging the ones with the new keyboards and batterys they also work fine... Is this the only incident where the 'TechGuys' seem a little less 'Techie'?
