I've been asked to investigate whether we are using a 'normal' setup (whatever that means) for our word processed exams, and would be grateful for some insights into how others do this. Currently, we have the following setup: - One 'Examination' account with which everyone logs on - Group Policy blocks all programs except for wordpad.exe - We use Wordpad as it is a basic word processor without spellcheck (which we've found very difficult to disable in Word) - Pupils save their work to a memory stick The biggest drawback with this setup is that pupils have to remember to save their work regularly to the memory stick, and if a computer suffers a problem, work can be easily lost, which obviously isn't ideal in an exam scenario. I'd be grateful to know how others cope with exams, particularly whether there are any 'better' options than Wordpad, and whether there are better options than using memory sticks for saving work. The only way I can see it would be possible to save work to a network location would be for every pupil to have a separate logon, which would put the administration overhead through the roof. Any thoughts gratefully received!

Hi all, Can anyone recommend a good bit of software for Power Management across a network? We are currently trialling Impero but it is a bit buggy and doesn't give quite as much control as we'd like (e.g. Shutdown this PC unless someone is logged on) without a lot of workarounds. I've also looked at SpiceWorks but this has even less control (not that it's bad for a free bit of software!) Any advise on what other people use and what your experience is would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

It sounds like SCCM is deciding not to rerun the task sequence as it thinks it has previously been run successfully (You have Rerun Behavior set to Rerun if failed previous attempt...this implies that it will not rerun if previous attempt was successful). This would explain why creating a new TS has solved your problem. I'm having the same problem but from the other side of the coin....I'm doing the same thing but with Rerun Behaviour set to Always Rerun, and funnily enough the TS runs, finishes, and then starts again! Might have to go with your solution of creating a new TS! (So far the only other solution I've found is an intricate schedule of Maintenance Windows and scheduled deployments, which seems to have too much potential to go wrong!)
