my old laptop did that sometimes, tuned out it was the nipple being dirty. Try taking nipple out and blasting the surface that it rests on with air duster.

for w32 codex's theres a few realy good howto's if you serch in google. Try pidgin for your chat client needs. Also the new version of sun virtual box is nice and easy to setup if you want to use stuff like photoshop and the like.

We had a smiler problem with network being flooded out. tunes out it was a dodgy network printer adapter causing the problem.

most of my mates have had in there years in uni either there laptop stolen or damaged. A notebook might be better.

Theres a problem with 2 - we found that even when each year-group had there own earphones they where never put back properly whatever happened . Only when it came to cat tests did they get more. Least you don't have proper speakers in the rooms as well.

I seam to remember that happening at my last place of work as well. I did the whole delete off active directory, put randem wrok group in , rename , add onto domain worked well.

i see you have tried ubuntu live cd or something in the laptop. Have you tried knoppix [knoppix.net] in another computer and then attached the laptops hdd to the other computer? sounds odd but it worked for me a while back.

I had the same as JJonas the other week. Fixed someones laptop after there broadband didn't work. So i go round to make shore it works at there house (which it dosent) after staying there a hour or so it decided that it would work. He was surprised at how little i charged as the supplier wanted something like £80 to come round and fix it. Repeat customers are worth it !

I had a situation in my last job where they wanted to use the machines off the network but still have a networked printer installed. I was going to share a printer and do dhcp off a ubuntu server and do it that way, just never managed to get ubuntu working on the spare machines I had. I think I still had a working DC though, but dont know if it actually worked.

I have in the past used WheresJames Webcam Publisher - Publish images to your web site using FTP or use the built in server. webcam software to allow this to happen if you upload the streams as different names then set a refresh on the page. The software also has a page builder that dose this for you.
