A Merry "Un-Christmas" to you all. I shall be celebrating "Un-Christmas" tomorrow. I get the house to myself, and intend to revel in just having beans on toast for lunch. Ha! In your face Santa!

The sites at: http://www.w-h-s.org.uk/ The front page looks quite clean. I've had a peek at the page source, so I know that it uses Wordpress and the "WP Framework". What do you think of it? It isn't my site, just one that I visit occasionally. (It's a radical improvement on the previous one that hadn't been updated in a long time.) I think, perhaps, some of the other pages could be improved by not trying to fit two columns into the right-hand box, as it makes it look a little cramped, but other than that I like it.

I found this during my job hunting. It looks interesting, but unfortunately I don't have enough experience of Apple Macs . (I've got the Windows skills, and the desirable Linux/Unix skills they require - pity that I've only ever really used MacOS X and MacOS 9 at home, and they want that experience in a networked technical environment.) Thanks for the hint - I've located something about using .htaccess with mod_rewrite to force https on a specific folder: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80 RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} blocks/smb_web_client RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://my_vle_website/blocks/smb_web_client/$1 [R,L] I've just tried it, and it works :-) Cool! I appreciate that it's sad trying this at 6:50 in the morning, but still, that's what remote access is for :-) Cheers.

Ahh, now that sounds interesting.

I've installed Moodle, SMB Web Client, and the proper certificate for secure access. I've set form authentication for SMB Web Client, which I believe means that the username/password is encrypted before being passed to the remote server... however, is there anyway to for SMB Web Client to operate over HTTPS, so that the data transferred is also encrypted? It probably wouldn't be an issue for students, but I imagine it might be more problematic for teaching staff, where the information transmitted might be confidential.

Small point, but consider your safety if you're going around to other people's homes to repair things - take a responsible adult with you. It'll probably reassure your customers too.
