    Yr 11 Pranks!

They've started early this year, anybody else experiencing the same? Made me chuckle actually, they've gone after the clocks - I mean, ALL of the clocks, inc. the Head's! haha... What pranks are they pulling at your schools? Or are they staying traditional and leaving it for a few weeks time, just before they leave? nab
  4. There's been some brilliant and quite frankly humourus examples dotted about this thread... Thanks to everyone for the tales of woe! Its been great to get an idea of what to expect. Tomorrow is my last day at my current job and then I start my new one on Monday -I'll of course let you know how it goes and indeed, share any tales of woe I myself may have to endure!! I hope anyone else starting out as a techie finds the thread as useful as I have! Cheers all! nab P.S keep them coming!!
  5. Not a buscuit(!)... I knew this would happen:doh:
  6. I may have to change my vote....
  7. I was part of a music forum a few years back, and annually the question was asked, "what's your favourite buscuit?" So I figured why not see how it goes down here! I'm kicking things off with Chocolate Hob Nobs... Let battle commence: PS. Before we go there; Jaffa Cakes are classified as Cakes!

    Windows 8....urgh

I dont think they've tried hard enough MS never seem to get it quite right. I like that they try to appeal to the ipad market whilst trying to keep the business users happy too. I'm just not convinced they've got close enough to whatever that should actually be yet. I think its a step in the right direction though. Even if W8 ends up being another Vista, who cares? W7 came after that and it was brilliant. I got high hopes for whatever follows W8... For now I'll be sticking with W7 for laptop and Android for Samsungs Note 10.1.
  9. Hi all, I'm sure this is covered in the forums somewhere, but whilst I have this at my disposal, and indeed the time to post it, I thought it might be useful. We're getting a suite of Macs for the music block soon, and need to set them up on the network. Below is the info I was sent through by Apple. Our tech's here are dinasours and weren't at all sure about getting Macs in the first place. The following info made the decision a lot easier: http://training.apple.com/itpro/macinteg/mac_integration_basics_108.pdf Apple - OS X and OS X Server Cheers, nab
  10. We have a suite of PC's running sibelius in the music block. There are headphone inputs on the front of the pc's for convenience, however the kids love pulling the headphones out frequently from there, and then the same problem you mentioned applies.. Instead I've opened the back panel where other in's and outs exist and attached a headphone splitter (then reattached the panel to prevent the kids pulling it out). This way they can put headphones in whenever they like and the sound will always work, because the splitter is recognised by the soundcard as being a headphone. Guess you've fixed the problem by now, but for anyone else there's a solution =)
  11. haha, being a newbie i haven't heard that before, i love it! PEBCAK
  12. Every single post has been a beautiful insight! haha, thank you everyone for the posts... I get a very similar list of problems (only A/V related) in my current role ("the speakers are blown and there's no sound at all" =volume down)... so hopefully i'll get started ok within IT whilst trying rapidly to learn as much as i can for future promotions.... Thanks again! nab
  13. I work in a school at the moment for my current job... I've had to overclock my patience ever since!
  14. So I'm taking my first steps into the working world of IT soon, moving from Sound/Lighting tech to ICT tech. I'm interested to know the common problems that are reported to 1st/2nd line support within schools, anyone care to list a few? I've just become A+ certified so I have an idea from that, but would like to know from real world experienced tech's! Cheers all, have a good day! nab
  15. Hi All, Very recently I made the switch from Sound and Lighting technician in a community college, to an ICT Technician in an independant college. Figured I should get myself on a forum as I'm sure I'll be asking for help here and there! Its good to be able to discuss topics with like minded individuals in similar job roles so I look forward to the forth-coming threads. I'm not very expereienced in this field, I've passed the 801 & 802 A+ exams (and am currently studying for N+ too), however that's about it. Its a very recent change for me so please be gentle! Let the posting commence! Cheers all, nab.
