Is the board serial number printed on the board itself?

We are looking to purchase ActivBoards from a school that is closing. They have removed the boards and those left no longer have the paperwork or serial nuimbers for the software. Will I have to purchase software separately or will I be able do download and use ActivInspire from the website?
