Had a usb cable accidently removed while flashing the firmware on a prom board, one dead controller no going back, had to replace the controller unit.

Hi 45 boards installed over 5 years we have had 3 psu blown, 2 board controller units replaced under warranty, driver dropping is a problem, Using the same usb port on the laptop/computer all the time solved a lot of the issue with the dropped drivers and the latest drivers. Pens not in the rooms with board is an issue, as they are easily place in the jacket pocket:( also projector remotes going for a walk) Software is spot on! .

Hi can anyone help, does anyone work in an RM managed service school? I would like to get an insight as to your job roll. What are you allowed to do or how does the system work. User accounts, software install, backup, procurement, internet monitoring, hardware fault finding etc. At the moment we cover all our needs at local level. But as BSF looms I need to obtain a better understanding of the bigger picture.

So hp2600n on print server wont print from sim. put are ok if installed locally.

We have about 8 HP2600N running on the print server on a standard tcp/ip port, the hp port where causing us problems similar to those mentioned above, we also use static ip’s. However the HP2600N don’t like printing from Sims, nova-t over the network, but are ok from Sims if installed locally. So we don’t us them on the admin network. Asus eee laptops we are looking at these at the moment as the price is attractive I’m interested in any issues anyone has had, and the battery life of these laptops in a school environment.

Are these xp computers does last known config, safemode with networking get you on to the network? also does a sys restore allow you to reconnect to the domain, these steps may help you qualify that its a machine issue.

Yes i work saturdays and sundays, from home silly me, would be great if we could work the occasional weekend for maintance, however i dont think it would go down well with the caretaker. His hours are long enough without of school time activities. Weekend is the best time to get things done without the phone going. plus i enjoy it.
