Unfortunately this one didn't work - just been able to have access to the teacher laptop to give it a go. Kind regards.

Thanks Everyone. Will go through and see what I can find. Much appreciated.

Hi Firstly I am new to Group Policy. In a school environment running Windows 10 clients I need to be able to give a teacher the ability to increase the size of her mouse pointer which is normally under the Ease of Access Section but it is not visible for her to make the change. Please could someone guide me through the section this will be disabled in Group Policy? Many thanks in advance. Kind regards

I hope this is posted in the right area (apologies if it isn't). Are there any official rules/regulations that dictate the period that data/user accounts have to be kept for in respect of pupils and staff members who leave the school? I really want to keep the system clean of old accounts and data but don't want to simply delete stuff if that is not correct! Thank you for any guidance. Regards Henry

Hi Soon to be replacing/upgrading our existing and operational Ruckus wireless system and just gauging whether there would be any interest in the following: Zone Director 1000 (12 licences) 11 x ZF2942 WAPs. Please let me know. Thank you. Henry

The suggested downgrade path does not work either!! Grateful for any further thought. Thanks

Thanks Guys for the quick response, yeah I am not overly impressed with the supplier although they are trying to assist in a positive way. The Zone Director 1100 is Firmware 9.7.1.0 build 32 The Zone Director 1000 is Firmware 9.3.2.0 build 3 I see White_FI you are based in Ipswich we are in Colchester - when it comes to the AP upgrades I will certainly be in touch.

Hi I currently have an obsolete Ruckus Wireless Network - Zone Director 1000 and 11 x ZF2942. As a primary school we do not have the budget to simply upgrade the entire wireless network so I am having to do it piecemeal style. So, I approached a Ruckus dealer (no names) and I told them exactly what was required and that we could not afford to replace the AP's straightaway. They consulted Ruckus and came back with a solution, namely: Zone Director 1100 and R500 AP's. Well it now transpires that the R500 is not compatible and has been swapped out for a 7372. However, in order for me to migrate the settings of the Zone Director 1000 I have to match its firmware on the new Zone Director 1100. However, the Zone Director 1100 will not accept any firmware lower than 9.7. I have tried three times to no avail - the zone director simply sits there saying "Upgrading 0%" with the status light flashing red. I have even left it overnight and it still does not work. I have gone back to the supplier and they are scratching their heads! Can anyone provide any thoughts on this as I am rapidly losing faith with the supplier and their "sales technique / technical knowledge" and I am concerned that Ruckus have not really done due diligence with this project either... Thanks in advance.

Thought I should update this for anyone in the same review scenario. Finally decided on Eset and have been very impressed with it so far. Ease of install excellent both client and server. Management console still getting to grips with but so far so good. System resource impact minimum on our ancient hardware. Support from Eset tech support excellent. Sales support really good as well. Very happy with the choice. Regards.

Thank you for your helpful feedback. For those of you who are using ESET are there any items of concern regarding either config or protection from the product? Thanks again.

Thank you.

Where did you go to get that price I have been quoted £1600 for 2 years (200 devices, 50 mailboxes and some servers)?? Thank you.

Hi Our AV software is up for renewal and I am wondering which of the following I should seriously consider. We have old/very old hardware (laptops mostly) so resource hungry AV is a NONO. 1. Sophos 2. Eset (good reviews and easy on resource requirements) 3. Kaspersky I have also been offered as part of the LEA deal free McAfee but I am not sure about them. Used to swear by them years ago but now feel they have lost their way a little and are uncertain about the resource requirements. Moreover just because they are a free option for us does not make them an automatic choice (IMHO)! Grateful for any experience with the above so I can draw a shortlist of 2. Thank you very much for any input. Regards H

Hi I am trying to formulate a Strategic IT Plan (on behalf of the Deputy Head so I can get some budget to do stuff) but have no idea where to begin. Are there any general templates available that I could use and amend as necessary. Thank you in advance for any guidance in this respect. Regards H

We have a Kell Systems Data/Server enclosure which is now in excess of what we need/require. Would like to swap/trade for wall mount cabinet (9U 600 x 600) and floor standing server cabinet (approx. 18U). Based in Colchester. Pics and further details on request - thank you.

Thank you very much everyone for your advice. With regard to the passwords do they have to meet the MS complexity requirements for the pupils and is the management overhead of resetting pupil passwords on a regular basis a big one as opposed to me setting one with no expiry? Thanks.
-
Firstly apologies if this is posted in the wrong section. Being very new to the education sector what are the best practices for creating pupil network logins. It seems that there are combined classroom based logins and individual logins here with varying degrees of passwords!! I would very much like to standardise the method but really need some guidance please on the preferred method. At the moment both teachers and pupils are frustrated (understandably). Thank you very much for your advice.

Group Policy Server 2008 R2 - Desktop Wallpaper XP Clients
Aqua replied to Aqua's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
gpresult shows all the correct group policies applicable but I cannot see anything in rsop.msc that mentions the wallpaper! Event viewer does not show anything relating to the wallpaper, although it does show a load of folder re-direction errors (configured before me I hasten to add). -
