Hi, We are currently looking for a new phone system. We are looking at a voip system using SIP trunking. We have had various quotes but would like to know what everyone is using and also which company you all use. The best quote we've had so far is from Teleconnexions based in Carlisle, this would be ideal for us as they provide our phone lines also

One connect have got back to me regarding this and said it can't be done as Itunes does not allow authentication pass through!! and its not just the NED, apparently its with all proxies!!! Can anbody confirm this?

Saying it can't be used isn't a possibility for us. Teachers are responsible for the purchase of apps and management of the class ipads

I am currently having an issue accessing the Itunes store on a PC whilst authenticating through the NED. If I remove the proxy script, and go direct out it works fine. Have contacted One Connect but they are scratching their heads also! Anybody else had this issue? I don't want to route teacehers directly out to the internet, would much prefer them going through the NED where all traffic can be monitored. Also I don't want to have to setup another appliance such as smoothwall since the NED should meet all our needs, which it clearly doesn't!

I have found a workaround for this. In the Manual proxy settings for the Ipad, I input the local DNS name for the NED box, turn authenitcation on, and input the username and password for the user. This causes the iPad to follow NED filtering policies according to the username you have used

Having found an old thread, I have put in the DNS name of the NED box as the Proxy server, enabled authentication and this seems to work for now. Has anybody else applied this? I know in all of CLEO's documentation it says not to use this, but if it works then I'll use ut!!!

I have just setup our NED box and integrated it with AD. All is fine with that, PCs and Laptops are filtering as they should with students and staff. I went to check one of the ipads and access a known blocked site using an authenitcated student to find that it bypasses the NED box blacklist and routes directly out!! I have noticed there is no setting on an ipad to specify the auto config script, it only allows me to input proxy server setting. Our main issue with this is that we are in the middle of writing an AUP to allow YouTube access to in our school. This would be then filtered at the NED to only allow access to staff, and block for all students, but if the NED can't filter ipads then we cannot go forward with this! we have around 40 ipads, plus more are due to be rolled out in the up and coming months. Has anybody got this working? Anybody found a workaround? I am better off scrapping the NED and buying in a more inteligent Web filter such as sophos??

I will be attending! Sounds good. Makes a change having to spend hours on a train, to spend the night in a dodgy hotel just for a few hours in a conference in London! Hopefully this will be the start of some more regular events like this. Especially with the local schools in the area struggling to fund their Network Managers/ICT Technicians to go to such events. This event should be well recieved.
