  1. We had this exact same issue. It turned out to be a filtering issue with smoothwall. In the end we made sure we put proxy settings in on the ipads (previously used transparent proxy fine) and made sure apple.com and icloud.com where in the exceptions category and it seems to work fine.
  2. Yep, ours does a similar thing from time to time. Are you using NTLM? If you go into the realtime system log you'll probably see bad handshakes every so often too and then "work around succeeded" and a new authentication login. I wouldn't worry about it!
  3. Have to remember that one!
  4. - This is true! Really awkward when your trying to explain how the reason their work wasn't printing was just because the printer in question wasn't mapped to the computer and you have to go in to detail about what it means to map a printer. You'd think with their whole "mind mapping" thing they'd understand it quite easily.
  5. Remember PEBCAK and you'll be fine!
  6. Probably going over old ground that's already been covered already but I'm currently on an Apprenticeship as an IT Technician in a high school. Won't bore you with too much details but I think it's the best choice I've ever made to leave college and follow this path, yes the moneys not great and it can be quite demanding at times but for me the idea of actually having the experience of working in an IT support environment outways all of that. However, as plenty of people have already said it's not really a decision that anyone else can make for you, have a word with your teachers and people at school and take the time to choose which path you actually want to take. Quite baffled how a thread about getting a job in IT has resulted in discussions about moving abroad but hey ho.
