  1. I got that script to work now. I have to put in the group or user of the affected person. so if im a domain admin i have to deny myself to the desktop.ini so that i can see it. therefore i also then have to add teachers to the deny. its no good adding deny for the student as they are not the ones with the problem
  2. I can't get this script to work but i don't think its going to help anyway. I have managed to get the other script to work from here Richard Willis – SharePoint Learning Kit Coordinator, SalamanderSoft Owner » How To Stop Home Folders Being Renamed Documents in the Network Share However the problem is that all our users have full control over their profile path. so currently the desktop.ini has full control to the user and deny for security group "year 7" so i still see it as "my documents" what would be good is if that script read the folder name (because its named after the username) and set deny read for that user.
  3. We have god awful problems with the smartcache as well. we are using the 2a.9.9 as well along with 2008 r2 but had to change its dns to 2008 server because the cache was asking for a username and password for windows clients and every 5-10mins restarting the caching service. this is all due to ntlm settings i beleive. im talking to rm about it. with regards to the macs i have the same issue were it asks for a username and password and then carries on. did you get anywhere with this?
  4. OK i think i have the solution don't ask me how but it is working on my network. Warning this might impact on your security first set in gpo - user configuration \ administrative templates \ windows components \ attachment manager - set default risk level for file attachments to low then add .swf to inclusion list for low file types then in software restriction polices add your .swf hash file seems to then work.
  5. Access 2007 is very good for people who don't know what the hell they are doing by automating most processes like converting a table into a form. How ever when our teachers are trying to teach the students you don't want access to automate things and set up forms automatically. for example when you select blank database you automatically get a table with a primary key already inserted. how do you stop these wizards as i have found nothing in GPO's (infact nothing useful at all).
