We have slg and it is not good at all even when it works!! TASC insight has amazing reviews and for the cost seems to be much better! The problems we have with slg are often down to broken links between our server and the sims hosted server for slg, and we often find that provisioning new users / removing does not work in a timely fashion even when you run the process manually rather than waiting for the scheduled task to run!

Just a guess but are you sharing the correct INI file via solus 3? If I recall there are two versions one which looks at the server direct which needs mapping and another one???

This is straight forward and is just a cycle change, believe it or not we have changed registration twice already this year going from am and pm to just am and now there is talk of moving the time of the am reg again!! Capita can help if you get support through them, you need to amend the cycle in nova t6 and then pish through the changes. The first time I did this I panicked as I did a cycle change and applied it in sims and forgot to push through the curriculum again which meant there were no TT's in the system!!! I think I have a guide somewhere on how to do it after my panic so drop me a message if your stuck

Hi, Our school has recently updated our old CMIS system to SIMS which is due to go live in September we are currently dual running both systems. My job between now and then is to re-develop the entire way in which the school collects and processes its assessment data, however I have no prior experience of using SIMS and only took up this position June last year! Although I and other senior members of staff have had the basic assessment training through CAPITA we are all still very much novices and would be looking at bringing in a consultant with a fluent understanding of how to set up / run assessment manger in SIMS, who would be willing to work alongside me and possibly another member of staff (SLT) with the view to explain and guide us in the right direction to ultimately enable us to run the process our self's. If this is something you or you know of someone who could help us with this could you please message me. We would be looking at possibly bringing someone in from mid June / July 2013 to help in the first instance. Also it would be nice if this is an option for an estimated cost of the support to approach and get approval from SLT. Thanks in advance, Anthony Thornton

Hi, Basically we are looking into getting SIMS and we are wondering if anyone has any experience of running SIMS on a virtual server, Pros and Cons? The server we will be using is a file server will this cause any issues such as overloading?

Hi, I would just some information on the differences between the SIMS Learning Gateway (SLG) and TASC Insight. Is it possible to do the same with Insight as with the SLG? Which do people prefer (opinions)? User Friendliness, Which seems better? Any problems with either that people have noticed? and finally... Any limitations which people have noticed between the two? I know this is a lot of information been asked for, but we are currently in discussions about changing MIS and we are reviewing the cost of elements included in the SIMS package.
