  1. AB Tutor Control version 4.5 paralysed our entire network within minutes when a student altered the year on the clock to 2019. They have issued a patch 4.6 which solves the problem.
  2. This is definitely a memory leak, it occurs overnight I suspect it may caused by Veritas backup software. Once in a while we come in and find this particular server has frozen up, there is plenty of RAM, it is definitely caused by a process not releasing memory. I just wondered if anyone had experience of solving the problem and which counters they set on Performance monitor
  3. Has anyone any experience of sorting out a memory leak in Server 2003?
  4. Mandatory Profiles are much quicker and more efficient to use, especially if used with folder redirection in Active Directory. Roaming profiles stored on a server are very susceptible to corruption and take up loads of space. We have a lot less problems with logons and profiles since we changed to running a mandatory profile, especially as we have 2,500 students regularly logging on.
  5. Hi Migrated to Server 2003 last year from RM Connect, with Ranger on our Curriculum machines, We have 4,000 users. Ranger is very good, has lots of useful features, but you will need to use it in combination with Active Directory, so you will have to get to know your Active Directory as well.
  6. If you want new toners the best supplier I have found, and I buy loads, is a company called RDS in Derby, I have been buying from them for years, more or less next day delivery, free of charge. Spectrum are very good as well. On the subject of printing can anyone recommend a good solid mono network laser printer for use in computer rooms(one that is strong enough to withstand kids and not expensive to run) The HP Laser Jet 5s I have been running for several years are finally dying and I want an equivalent replacement.
