    are you behind a proxy/firewall something like smoothwall if so it can send odd data to your computer i have had issues where smooth wall will just cut off downloads anything bigger than a GB

    We had a very similar issue on our website, it turned out there was a permission fault on our /var/www/ folder. try 777 see if it picks up if it does slowly drag it back 755 so on so forth. Aso installing Webmin is a huge help just to make sure your file paths are correct.
