I’m looking for some advice. I’m no profile expert so please forgive any incorrect terminology. Our users are setup to use a mandatory profile in AD which is located locally on each machine they use. Primarily this should apply for all users, however most staff have a Windows 7 laptop which I’d like to be a little more flexible. In short, mandatory profile everywhere across the site apart from on individually assigned laptops. At present, in the mandatory profile folder that lives on the local C drive of each laptop, I can rename the ntuser.man file to .dat. The user who logs onto that laptop then assumes the preconfigured mandatory profile (as we want it configured) but with the ability to keep personal settings. However when the next user comes to logon, at logon they also try to get that same profile location (as this the same in AD). This then causes conflicts and issues with programs such as Outlook because I think the two users are having their profiles mashed together. I’d prefer it if this local profile data was located in C:\users\username folder but the laptops don't appear to be using these as they did with XP. Is it possible to achieve this just for the staff laptops? Any help / advice is greatly appreciated and I'll do my best to clarify any of the above if it's not clear. Many thanks in advance,

@cleverleyson I had this error. In the table, is the column with the dates in called dob? I had mine called "Date of Birth" but once renamed to "Date" to match the code it worked. I set my First/Last name columns to VARCHAR and the DOB to Date.

Hi all, We use EasyTrace BackOffice to manage our printing. When students print they use a swipe card to collect anything they print from any one of multiple printers sharing one queue. A swipe stand lists the docs they have in the print queue which are paused until they are released when they visit one of the printers. This system works well with our Windows clients however we are trying to integrate our Apple iMacs. We have no problem printing directly from a iMac to a network printer however this bypasses our print management. At the moment we can print to the EasyTrace queue from iMac however it appends the client’s IP to the owner field in the print queue, which also contains the username of the student. BackOffice uses this field to link the user to their swipe card so unless they match it doesn’t show the document sent from the iMac in the swipe stand queue. Is there a way to omit this IP from the owner field? I’d appreciate it if there is anyone with a similar setup who could share how their OSX clients are configured. Thanks in advance.

Morning all, We rolled out Win 7 this year and on the whole everything works fine. However there are a couple of users who lose their home areas at seemingly random times. I think it happens to users who are logged on for a prolonged period of time throughout the day. At logon, users can access their home drive fine however later on in the day, occasionally access is lost, however other network drives / e-mail etc remain working as normal. The only way to fix the issue is to reboot the machine - log off and on does not fix. This occurs with multiple users and whichever machine is at fault, it doesn't really leave anything to go on. There is nothing related to the issue in the event logs. These are the message prompts I've seen displayed: H:\ is not accessible. This file is currently not available for use on this computer. H:\ is not accessible. Access is denied. Any help would be appreciated.
