SonicWALL SRA 4200 Proxy Settings
chrisalltraine replied to eddyc's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I have this and had the same issue. This is what I did I setup XO with an IP address on the internal network and set the DNS setting to our local DNS server and create an object for the SRA system in sonicwall to allow access out. I then followed the guide and built the remote access network on the X1 Port, works great - now if only someone knew how to enable copy and paste from the local machine to the remote session in HTML5 I will be sorted. so X0: 192.168.xx X1 : 192.168.201.xx https://sra.rutlish.merton.sch.uk -

[sims] Sims.Net Staff Timetables Export to Outlook
chrisalltraine replied to chrisalltraine's topic in MIS Systems
Thanks Nick, I am going to give this a try. -
I know this has been asked a few times in the past but I thought I would open a new discussion as I am sure many other people would be looking for the same thing. It has finally been agreed with SLT here that using outlook calendaring over Sims.net calendar is far much better with categorisation, meeting scheduling, colour coding, ability to sync to mobile devices etc... Therefore I am going to setup a mailbox with a shared calendar attached (Public folder's are a dying breed Creating Shared Calendars on Exchange 2010 | Steve Goodman's Exchange & Office 365 Blog ) to it and set certain permissions for all staff. What would be such an advantage is if there was a way to automatically sync all staff's Sims.net timetables to Outlook 2013 on a daily basis which updates their personal calendar within outlook. Is there a way to do this without having each staff running an export report? A script that could be set as a schedule task on the Sims Server? Is this something that anyone could or would be willing to create? I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this. Many thanks Chris

UPDATE I deleted the templates and created new ones ad these are working.
-
Has anyone experienced this after applying the update alongside the Autumn V2 release? Current and global messages are fine and all tests connect successfully but for some reason when selecting any Late templates the send button is greyed out no matter who I select. I have a case open with Capita but thought I would ask here in case someone else has had or is having the same issue.

I have a meeting on Monday scheduled with Sophos to discuss requirements.. I will feedback costs here. I may have to arrange a call back from dell to discuss. I do like what their SRA platform provides which could be a solution to combat BYOD and Remote assistance especially with the LGFL2 blocks... NSA and SRA would be needed for that full solution which could be a bit more costly, I am definitely going to look in to it

Thanks for the Info Gatt, It does seem the perfect replacement for TMG
-
Anyone using this? I am currently looking into alternatives with TMG 2010 being retired and having looked at the options available I would much like to jump to Sophos UTM. Can anyone offer some feedback on it Software or Hardware based? Usability? Cost? Yearly costs? Support? Updates? OS Support? 2012R2?

Why not - I name my servers to reflect the Job role starting with the first 3 letters of the school followed by a few letters of the job role - School name: Harrow / Server Role: Exchange (Server Name: Har-Exch) Personal preference on whoever is managing the network really, I like to keep it short.

Hi Tom, You say you dumped the .vstsoundfiles into programdata.... Where are these files you dumped located? ---- EDITED: Just now found the VST Sound folder on the Disc in the Additional Content folder (5.4GB) - I assume this is what your taking about? -
This is my personal device... Just wondering what was and was not possible on a 'Surface'. The Surface Pro is the best option especially if planning to use within the classroom with the better hardware and Full Windows 8. For senior management who want to have a portable device they can use.. for us I do not think the additional cost on them would be worth it for what they require it for.

I now have Sims.Net and Sims Discover both as published remote apps (RDP files saved on the desktop of the RT) WOW! I mean WOW! (Is there any further need really for Sims Emerge? No) So now we have the perfect tablet Office Package Full Outlook Sims Discover Remote Desktop And any other application I publish... It was going to happen... It did happen... and I aint got no problems with Microsoft In my opinion like they did with the Xbox - They hit the nail right on t

Swings and Roundabouts I suppose, I do get a lot of increase when the admin staff are running large reports or other housekeeping tasks and has no affect on the performance of Sims for other users. Bulk uploading student photos is now a painless task, for me the additional memory sitting there does come in use at some point (I have never fully used 20GB but have gone over the 16GB) I am still yet to upgrade to Solus3 (holding back as long as I can to be honest) hate sitting on needles.

I have 20GB of RAM and on the second day (Log Growth) the database can use as much as 12GB RAM (Virtual Memory is Disabled) - 30GB for me would be a decent amount for the Sims Server (also consider additional database's and services that you may run on the same server (Discover, Intouch) as well as other MIS systems that Syncs with Sims (Oliver, Cashless Catering) etc.. For me I say (If purchase of a new server is agreed then no harm in adding as much memory) considering you could take some out and slap it in another server you been dying to get memory for.

This is great stuff May I ask a couple of questions I have no profile's set for student's and then run a remove local profile script at shutdown so each time a new profile is created. These settings are never remembered and need to be performed each time and for some younger students this can take up more than half a lesson just getting it set correctly. I had the idea of creating a default profile and then replacing the local default profile with my configured profile so this is the one that gets applied to a new user. Here is a sweet guide I used for that Here's how to create a Default Profile without using SysPrep - Windows 7 Forums Now having made these changes it works for changes like power, taskbar items and also office 2010 (first user run etc) Cubase does not and all the settings need to be provided (I checked in the default appdata folder and it is populated with Steinberg Cubase folders) Any Ideas or suggestions? How do you manage this for students? Many thanks C
