I am evaluating a software for print management.We have a dedicated print server supporting around 60 different printers which include mono lasers, inkjets and color laser. I am running a trial of Papercut as recommended by everyone, I would say I am quite happy with it. But I am facing a peculiar problem with HP inkjet printers (HP Business Inkjet 1200 and HP Officejet Pro K5400. I want to able to block students/teachers printing B/W documents to these hp printers, which is not working out. I have enabled color detection mode and tried both the methods 1) standard detection and 2) page level detection. for eg. If I enable Allow Color documents only, I am able to print a B/W Word document while a notepad file would not print. But this also sometimes does not work. If I check the status of B/W Word document even though in papercut events, it detects it as Greyscale=NO although it should be yes and hence prints. I have been in contact with Papercut support and they adviced to create two print que's for the same printer one for B/W and the other for color on the same printer, I dont think it is an ideal solution. This is supposedly due to the PCL print driver. Does anyone of you face a similar problems with inkjet printers. Also what have you guys using with regards to the notification tool. Messenger service is blocked on the network due to security issues and the balloon tips are also disabled. Please provide inputs. Thanks in advance

Hi guys, I realy appreciate your helps in advance. About 40-50 workstations randomly freeze every day. This happens for any computers. It takes from 1 to 10 minutes to unfreeze. This happens with any type of software from MS Office Word to ProDesktop and also for any user. Also when workstations freeze they lose network connection too. After our troubleshoots I have realised one thing: If I unplug network cable and wait for a few seconds then plug it back the workstations become normal. However for few workstations this takes longer. We have checked the switches and they look fine. There is no bandwidth issue. We have also checked event logs for workstations and couldn't find any abnormal error logs. Only one error which is AutoExNT appearing regularly in logs. But we have this error in all workstations in the school. I have replaced the network cables and their network points too. However it didn't make difference. any idea for solution? Thanks

Hi, We have deleted some students from our system. After this some of users have started receiving "undeliverable email" messages from our Exchange. The point these emails were already sent longtime ago! And now some how exchange is trying to send same emails again to deleted users. Do you know why this is happening? Thanks

I have pinged to that PC in Sports Hall (where is connected by Laser). And results for 65500 : 13ms but it doesnt allways reply back sometime yes sometime no. Thanks

Nothing to do with HD. It is OK. There is only one possibility that is Laser connection. However if there is a problem with Laser how users can login to system and browse their documents. This only occurs when user try to logoff. Thanks

Hi, When an user tries to save any works into his/her user area Windows pops an error message that says " Disk is full..." which is not. And also when user tries to logoff windows pops another message that says " Windows- Delayed Write Failed... Windows was unable to save all the data for the file X. The data has been lost. This error maybe caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere." And I have checked event log : Event Log "event" 50, "Source" MRxSmb. This problem only occurs for any computers in another building of our school.The connection has been done to that building by Laser connection. This issue is for any computer that is located in that building. I was wondering if any of you clear idea about this issue. I am thinking that might be realated with physical networking. I dont think so that is related with HW issue on workstation or server side. Because when I bring the error caused workstation into other location in school everything works fine. Any help???? Thanks for reply guys, We are already using compressed air in a can. I m trying to find air compressor rather than using can ones to save our budget. I thought that if I find an air compressor less than 50 psi could be solution.

Hi again, After your recommendations and made some research on the internet I understand that this problem is not only related the spooler. OK inkjet printer works different in terms of using memory. However there is still relation between size of buffer and printed document. Let me make my question like this; the printer has 32 MB RAM and I am trying to print 5 x 70MB documents through the network printer. During the print process printer stopped printing and queue get stacked. Do you think this is related to spooler on server side or local worksation side or memory of the printer? Thanks

Thanks for replies. I dont get how spooler can effect the printer in bad way. When small size of amount documents are printed there is no problem with printing. However if there is some big document it makes problem. Printer itself has 32MB RAM. And when we send prints more than this size spooler comes for help ( if I am wrong correct me please). So still didnt get relation with spooler. So again if I ask my question: Any recommendation what is the best size to print document for Business Inkjet 1200dn. Thanks

There are some issue with RMTutor3 or with something else. Sometime some workstations without reason(which we still couldnt found) are locked (RM Tutor 3 lock function). And we thought that maybe some teacher is doing something wrong with RM Tutor 3 without aware of it. So we want to track it. any way? and any help appreciated. thanks
