  1. Has anyone had any GeoBook 1E laptops returned with bulging batteries? We've just had one come back and are now worried that it could be a wider issue. Equally it could just be that the student was using it on a radiator!
  2. Hi, I need to fill in for a colleague who is off and do an eDiscovery search for an SAR. I think I've got a handle on how to do the search, but I want to be as precise as possible with it. I need to search for the subject's initials, but they will also show up in hundreds of words. How do I search specifically for the two initials together without also returning other words containing that string? (e.g. search for AB, but don't include 'about') Would searching for " AB " do the job? Thanks!
  3. Has anyone seen (and hopefully fixed!) Groupcall error 2148734720? We've added a new job to an existing installation and it keeps failing, the other jobs run fine though. Logged it with Groupcall last week, but still waiting for a call back...
  4. i've just run reports for yesterday and last week on one of our suites, both gave me results i'd expect - up to 35 logins over the week. we're running 5.1.05 though as we've found it stable and have avoided upgrading for a while. might be worth having a word with impero, won't help you with historical data though!
  5. try the power management reports in impero, you can get details for a given date range on the number of logins, the total time the computers had someone logged on, the amount of time they were on, and how much of that they were idle. should help you prove the amount of usage.
  6. We tried AirParrot and Reflector to mirror a tablet to a PC which was plugged into a projector, but found the image had quite a severe delay, and audio and video didn't sync when playing a video. Did you come across any of those issues when using Apple TVs?
  7. Thanks, we upgraded our WiFi network over the summer in preparation for this and providing devices to students. What devices are you using? iPads or something else?
  8. Hi all, does anyone have any advice regarding mirroring mobile devices to our classroom projectors? We've been focussing on software solutions allowing us to connect them to the PCs as we want to be able to control what devices can connect, but have found the performance to be quite poor. We're now considering WiDi dongles or similar, any tips or experiences you can share would be great - have you got either solution working, what devices are you using etc? Thanks Matt
  9. We've never had any issues from staff regarding Impero being on their computers, but that may be because it's been here for years and is just accepted. Provided your AUP specifies that their activity will be logged I don't think you really need to consult them, but if you need to then push the remote support - "we can help you much more easily and quickly" etc. We don't give staff access to the console, it's just for us admins, but if you're going to then classroom management can be another plus. As for logging, each school will have different needs, but I'd suggest too much info is better than not enough - provided you're just logging violations and not blocking. If the logs start to become unmanageable then review your key words and ease things back.
