  1. Yes, sure. I have installed SIMS.net Applications, as sims dbattach failed and sims db configuration. I then (manually) installed windows server 2008 I have created a blank databse in sql server management studio called LOGON. I have then "told" SIMS.net to use that database to start up. And that is where I am at.
  2. Hello There, I have now successfully installed SIMS server. However, the dbAttach step has failed. But I don't want to know how to fix it, I'm giving up with that. I would, however, like to know the steps I need to take to manually create a database and the sysman login with SQL server management studio 2008. I know that once all the databases are created, I'll be able to assign the database on the "Locate SIMS on your system" page. Is it as simple as creating the sysman login? All help would be appreciated. And sorry for the long-winded explanations, Roger.
  3. The trouble is, I can't access SupportNet for the files and our LA isn't very helpful. I just need someone to PM me the direct download link and password. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. Well, as you know, I am really struggling with SIMS (if you've seen my previous posts) and rather than grovelling and begging them to purchase another MIS, I was wandering if there were any free alternatives to SIMS as I would be able to install it on Windows Server 2008 R2 (or Windows 7 if they're a stand-alone application) and have it act just like SIMS, you know, with at least some of the modules and a class attendance system. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks In Advance, Roger
  5. Hello, I recently upgraded our server to Windows Server 2008 R2. I would like to create a NEW blank database for SIMS. I ran SIMSINST v1.21.3.0 and when it was just installing MSDE 2000 it said that it was incompatible with the operating system and that it needed to be run on Windows NT 4.0, Xp or 98. Is there a different version of Microsoft SQL that is freely available and compatible with Windows Server 2008 R2 and SIMSINST v1.21.3.0. If so, how would I create a database for SIMSINST or will it do it for me? And (sorry, I have a lot of requests) what is the default login for SIMS once everything is installed?

  7. Hello, I have run SIMSINST.exe to install SIMS and I am on the Installing SIMS DB Install part and at the bottom of dbattach.exe it says Copying Database File Into The SQL Data Directory. It has been on this step for almost an hour. Both SIMSINST.exe and dbattach.exe are still responding, so they can't have crashed. Maybe it just takes a long time? Thanks In Advance For Your Help.
  8. Is SIMS compatible with SQL server 2012??
  9. I'd like to set up a test server for SIMS. Is there anyway to this manually?? Do I need another software to create a database or can I just do it with sql server? and how would I go about adding users? I'm kinda in a pickle right now and i don't have SIMSinst.exe to help me.
  10. Is there anyway to create a new sims database on sql server? do i just call it "SIMS" and then create a connect.ini file and then how would i go about adding users? I am stuck. Any help out there?

  12. Hello, I can't seem to access SupportNet at the moment and I have been emailed the simsspring2011upg.iso file by one of my colleagues (it's the latest version our system can cope with). I asked him what the password was but he said he didn't realise it was encrypted. Does anyone know the password and is able to email it to me or maybe even email the release notes with the password contained. Thanks in Advance.
  13. Could you email me the release notes as I can't access SupportNet. Thanks in advance.
