  1. A new customer portal is coming... | capita-sims.co.uk ^ Is this the new one you've seen?
  2. Does SupportNet appear... unsecure to anyone? It's only asp.net from what I've gathered. I think it's a good idea, the KB articles are really helpful but it's a bit kwirky and I wouldn't want anyone else grabbing my ID and pass if you know what I mean . But, maybe I'm wrong...
  3. When designing a report, is it possible to select which results/aspects you have when selecting the 'Assessment Results' field?
  4. Hey guys, Basically we use a marksheet, we have completed all of our marksheets and exported them to excel from last term and now we need to renew them. How do I do this? If I delete the marksheet and create a new one for the same class, the entered grades and comments are still there. Can someone help me? Many Thanks, Roger Corrigan
  5. Does anybody know of any schools or establishments that are willing to provide an establishment number and postcode for SOLUS 3 for testing? We would like to test SOLUS 3 before we upgrade.
  6. Oh ok. I just don't think anybody in our school wants to receive loads of emails every time we do an upgrade. But thank you all for informing me
  7. Does SOLUS Notify the school when you have done an upgrade?
  8. Finally fixed my SOLUS 2 to work. Why does SOLUS 2 only work for managed sites? Does SOLUS notify the school if you've done an upgrade? That's the only logical reason I can think of. :L
  9. The title says it all: How do you access SIMS via http? Do you need special software?
  10. I have just successfully updated to Spring 2013 by requesting the update from Capita. But for future reference, where can I download that patch?
  11. There is an actual error with the establishment number; one of the digits is wrong. Can it be changed?
  12. SIMS Spring 2013 looks good! I've just requested the spring 2013 upgrade files from Capita. But, I tried to get the upgrade off of SOLUS 2 because I can't seem to get SOLUS 3 to work, it's too much of a faf. Anyway, SOLUS 2 doesn't work because there is an error with the establishment number within SIMS. How do I change this?
  13. Does anyone know how to export the SIMS database as an mdf file so i can reinstall SIMS and attach the saved mdf file to it? Any help would be appreciated
  14. Hey guys, have just installed Lesson Monitor and configured on the setup Lesson Monitor screen. Now (in order on the register) it goes: AM, Mon:1, Mon:2, Mon:3, Mon:4, PM, Mon:5, PM, Mon:6. I understand that it's there because I set PM to be scheduled on the P6 sessions, but how do I get PM to move to after the Mon:6 session?
  15. Thanks @localzuk, just got it purchased and installed.
  16. For some reason, Lesson Monitor isn't there?? It isn't in Focus either.
  17. Hey, I have created a year band called 7.1 in NOVA-T and done all the subjects and teachers setup. I then imported this into SIMS .net and from my already existing year group in SIMS (7V) I allocated all the students to 7.1 Linear. I then applied the timetable and then clicked the 'Take Register' icon at the top of SIMS .net I then selected periods but only Wednesday AM and Wednesday PM, the next day, Thursday AM & PM only fri am and pm etc etc. Whereas, in Nova, i created 6 valid teaching periods. They are just not showing up in Take Register. I logged in as a member of staff who had 7.1/Ma assigned. The class was on her timeline but when we right clicked the class, the take register option isn't there. Is there a way to fix this?
  18. Hey guys, I've done a fresh install SIMS but there is a problem, I click Focus, Nova-T6 and it asks for a license file, which is not in the SNOVA or NOVAT folder anywhere. Am I missing something?
  19. I have just ran SIMSINST.exe and Installed SIMS to APPONO/SQLSERVER and attatched a blank database which I named SIMSMAIN. When the SIMS installation had finished, I clicked ok and it returned to the main SIMSINST screen, does that mean it was unsuccessful? Anyway, I closed that down and went to a client PC and clicked SIMS.net, it then upgraded the workstation to SIMS 2012 Spring (I know it's not latest, but It'll do) Then I connected it to the connect.ini file on the server and then the login sreen came up. I put username: sysman and password: password but it said Invalid Username/Password. Any Ideas?
  20. Hello, I have installed SIMS.net Applications, as sims dbattach failed and sims db configuration. I then (manually) installed sql server 2008 express with tools. I have created a blank databse in sql server management studio called LOGON. I have then "told" SIMS.net to use that database to start up. I didn't create any tables or anything for SIMS. I just created a login and put a user in the users folder of LOGON and then attempted to login. It then said "Invalid Username/Password." Am I missing something? Please help.
  21. Yes, sure. I have installed SIMS.net Applications, as sims dbattach failed and sims db configuration. I then (manually) installed windows server 2008 I have created a blank databse in sql server management studio called LOGON. I have then "told" SIMS.net to use that database to start up. And that is where I am at.
  22. Hello There, I have now successfully installed SIMS server. However, the dbAttach step has failed. But I don't want to know how to fix it, I'm giving up with that. I would, however, like to know the steps I need to take to manually create a database and the sysman login with SQL server management studio 2008. I know that once all the databases are created, I'll be able to assign the database on the "Locate SIMS on your system" page. Is it as simple as creating the sysman login? All help would be appreciated. And sorry for the long-winded explanations, Roger.
  23. The trouble is, I can't access SupportNet for the files and our LA isn't very helpful. I just need someone to PM me the direct download link and password. Any help would be appreciated.
  24. Well, as you know, I am really struggling with SIMS (if you've seen my previous posts) and rather than grovelling and begging them to purchase another MIS, I was wandering if there were any free alternatives to SIMS as I would be able to install it on Windows Server 2008 R2 (or Windows 7 if they're a stand-alone application) and have it act just like SIMS, you know, with at least some of the modules and a class attendance system. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks In Advance, Roger
  25. Hello, I recently upgraded our server to Windows Server 2008 R2. I would like to create a NEW blank database for SIMS. I ran SIMSINST v1.21.3.0 and when it was just installing MSDE 2000 it said that it was incompatible with the operating system and that it needed to be run on Windows NT 4.0, Xp or 98. Is there a different version of Microsoft SQL that is freely available and compatible with Windows Server 2008 R2 and SIMSINST v1.21.3.0. If so, how would I create a database for SIMSINST or will it do it for me? And (sorry, I have a lot of requests) what is the default login for SIMS once everything is installed?
