  3. That wouldn't be the case if you had multiple data transfers from different clients though, which is is more realistic... I can't see why you would need a 10 gigabit connection between two servers, but I could be wrong. I can see why you'd go for 10 gigabit with the future in mind, but in all honesty I don't think many networks need that sort of bandwidth, and 10 gigabit switches are just so much more expensive I'd want to be damn sure it's going to make a difference to network performance.
  4. You mentioned that when this happens you are unable to ping or access the web interface of the access points... is that from all devices in the network? For example, are you able to ping or access the web interface from a device which doesn't connect wirelessly?

If it was the norm for a single workstation to utilise a gigabit connection then it would make little difference whether you have a 10 gigabit connection or a 100 gigabit connection as it simply would not be enough... so I don't believe that what you have said is entirely accurate. Also, are workstations connected using gigabit links? No, more like 100mbps connections.
  7. Have you tried disabling the software firewall both the source and destination? Are you sure everything is configured correctly on the LanSchool software? I don't have experience with LanSchool but I would think that you need to have some software installed on the student computers as well -- right?
  8. Well if you could do that then it would help narrow down the problem... and you'd also be able to check any security configurations on the switch.
  9. How many clients are connected to each of the devices? Do you experience this at quiet times also? Are the access points configured with static IP addresses?
  10. Have you tried accessing the web interface directly through a switch port or not?
  11. That's going to depend on whether or not there is a physical firewall between the source and the destination.
  12. If you bring the CLI up and enter "enable" that will bring you into privileged EXEC mode, you then need to enter "show running-config" to get the current configuration. Also, have you tried disabling the firewall on both sides to check whether the traffic is being filtered?
  13. It's difficult to say whether you would benefit from upgrading to 10Gb without seeing your network topology and typical bandwidth usage. I'd also be interested to see how you plan on connecting 1500 devices wirelessly; how many devices will you be connecting per wireless router? What wireless router are you planning on using?
  14. How are you trying to access the web interface? Are you plugged directly into one of the switch ports?
  15. Are you able to access the CLI and check the configuration on both switches? Are there any other switches in the path other than the two you have mentioned? Also have you tried disabling firewalls temporarily to see if that's the problem?
  16. Hi FN-GM, Can you please confirm that you have configured inter-vlan routing and can indeed ping between the two VLANs. Please also confirm whether you are able to ping from BOTH sides. Lastly, do you have any Access Control List configured on the devices?
