I use and have used for a few years Carbon Copy Cloner, https://bombich.com/ Our staff has Macbook Airs along with our Junior High students through a state run program. I create a student image on a laptop, plugin a thumb drive or an external drive and run Carbon Copy Cloner, makes a duplicate of the hard drive. Plug the external or thumb drive into the computer you want to setup and boot to the portable drive. It loads up the OS just like it is its own computer, run the program again but choose the laptop as the destination and in 10-20 minutes your laptop is a clone of the original computer. For summer re-imaging for the incoming junior high students I setup 3-4 drives so I can do them in chunks and it takes me just an afternoon. Love the program and has saved me a lot of time and hassle. I know there are faster options our there for doing bulk imaging but with some changes probably coming down the road there isn't much use in setting it all up.

I have been using Doceri in our district which it does desktop mirroring on an iPad along with some Smartboard like features. Most of our staff that have actual Smartboards prefer Doceri to their Smartboard which I found interesting. We also use Air Server for projecting iPads as it is much more stable then the Apple TV's for us.

We started using Spanning Backup this school year, it backs up the emails every morning but does not keep a daily backup for those, just keeps that days backups. However, for Google Docs, Sites, and contacts it keeps a running daily backup so you can go in at anytime and for any day and restore anything you need. We have not needed it much yet, thankfully but I did have to restore the contacts for our Superintendent which worked perfectly. It is a paid solution but it really does give piece of mind and for only around $3,000, though we are a smaller school.

In our elementary lab one of the education games they use needs 256 colors. I went under compatibility mode and set the program to run in 256 colors and it runs with no issues. However, when I exit the game the computer stays in 256 colors and doesn't switch back to its normal display. I figured it would automatically switch back since I only have the program running in that mode so I'm stumped at this point. Appreciate any advice, as usual I'm sure it's just a small setting somewhere that I'm missing. Thanks!

On Friday there was no issues, everything worked fine. This morning I went in and the same computers as usual couldn't connect to their network drives, red X's. Rebooting the computer or logging in and off did not work this time, had to reboot the server. Thanks again for any advice!

Great, going to go try it right now, thanks! Do you know why that is causing the issue? Our Superintendant likes to have explanations, because it just started as it had been fine unless an update or something made it act up. Will post back in the next couple of days on if it worked, thanks again!

We have been dealing with some issues, only for some users and it does not pertain to just wireless or wired users. I am not a network/server guy though I'm learning and I just want to help our network guy figure this out. It does not happen every morning, seems to be random mornings but where the two ladies in our main office login to their computer/server on their Windows 7 machines they have red X's over their network drives and can not access them. Their computers had been off through the night and this was their first power on in the morning. I came in today and decided to try a few things, I restarted the computer and had them log in again to the computer/server and their drives appeared. The other thing that also works is their drives will work if we reset the actual server. It only affects about 1/4 of the teachers, it doesn't happen every day, and it is not related to just wireless or wired computers. Any advice on anything I can look at or just to get pointed in a general direction would be appreciated. Just wondering if people have come across this issue and how they resolved it. It's been going on for 2-3 weeks now and they are getting pretty frustrated understandably so. Just want to get this fixed for them. Thanks in advance! Also, after some quick searching I found a suggestion of turning off one of the settings under the power management section of the NIC card but that didn't help either.

I have been running sites for about 10 years and have been using Hostgator for most of that time with no issues other then ones I have caused..lol. Great support and very responsive to anything I need. I started out on shared, moved to reseller, and now I'm on a VPS through them.

I know a number of threads have been posted about this but we are looking for something very specific with absolutely no luck so I thought to use this great resource. We currently have a system in place the allows us to block sites, keywords and so on with absolutely no issue, supplied by the state for free. However it has no live monitoring and that is the next step we need. What we are looking for is something that will live monitor all wired and wireless traffic on our network and list the url they are visiting, not the ip but the actual www. and will also store the log files. If it had a live running stream of traffic that would be great. We don't need it to be able to block or do anything like that as we have that piece covered, if it has it that's fine too as we just wouldn't enable that feature. The key though is live monitoring and that it shows the actual web address of what is being visited and shows the IP or MAC address of the computer visiting that site. Hopefully this makes enough sense, just trying to get this piece figured out. Thanks!
