  1. Yeah it is only for one device though, seems a bit silly paying for a third party app to do it! I'll investigate the script option...
  2. Hi there I have a single imac that is going into our Music dept. I've managed to bind it to our windows domain, and I can log in as a user and the home drive maps to the correct location. What I am really struggling with is getting a mapped drive to a windows network share for all subsequent domain users. The only setting I seem to be able to change to do this is for local users, and even then only one at a time. Is this just not possible or something? Many thanks John
  3. re email, here at the girls school we use the LGFL hosted exchange service - down the road they have their own exchange server. I've not really got to a point of thinking exactly how we'd go about unifying the email, I guess one of the reasons to get this set up in the first place is to try out a few different options and see what is workable
  4. Thanks guys, I'll speak to Atomwide.
  5. Hi there Just wondering if anyone out there has any experience of doing this or whether it is even possible across the LGFL WAN? We have three separate schools which are all federated - two of which are in the same physical location and have their own domain, then one which is half a mile down the road and again has a separate domain of its own. Ideally we would like to be able to unify email across all sites and people to be able to access their work irrespective of their physical location. I have some previous experience of trust relationships between two domains but this was when I was working at an LA and there we had a dedicated line going between the two physical sites. I basically just want to find out whether or not it is possible or if it is just a pipe dream as we would never be able to secure the funding to get a physical line put in between the two schools! Any thoughts/opinions appreciated! Cheers John
  6. It doesn't explain why it still works for staff though - all staff and students have folder redirection in place
  7. Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could help with this or at least point us in the right direction. We have an issue whereby when our students try to add files into movie maker they get an 'invalid path' error. Staff do not get this issue, also if you log in as local admin this does not occur. We virtualised our servers in the summer, and along with moving over to a windows 7 environment at the same time we also really locked down the system for various security reasons. I guess my question is - does anyone know where this may be falling over? I don't really know how movie maker works (all I know is it's rubbish!!) and from looking at our GPO's and various scripts and what not I can't see any discrepancies that would cause this kind of behaviour to happen. Any ideas would be gratefully accepted as google just keeps throwing up blanks or red herrings! Cheers John
  8. Thanks James Just looked at the pricing for those and they're still pretty steep - I guess we'll just continue changing the lamps on our +2's for the time being!
  9. We're currently phasing out our old projectors and opting for bulbless LED ones as replacements in all of our classrooms. This is fine when it is a ceiling mounted projector but what I want to know is will this cause problems when it comes to +2 installations? Are there any particular models you can recommend or is the technology not there yet to enable this to work? Cheers
  10. Yes, but I think london weighting is around £2-3,000 something like that...
  11. £35k here. I work in a school in London, 700 pupils, around 400 clients. Mixed windows/mac environment. Bear in mind however I was the only IT person in the whole school when I was appointed and that remained the case for 2 years until recently when I have managed to get one other technician in. I am heavily involved in project management and consultation on new buildings etc as well as in charge of the IT budgets and all IT procurement etc. Even having said that it would appear to be rather a lot compared to what I have read on here
