Yes, if you install current 2019 builds, the deployment will start to install, and then remove the applications. You should get an error message, and when checking this, will be advised that the current versions are Win 10 only. They won't run on 7, 8, 8.1 or even some early builds of Win 10

Been using Kaspersky here for about 5 years. We moved over from Sophos as the client had just become far too unwieldy. Kaspersky was, at first, lean and nimble. I echo the sentiments above regarding the Admin console, but the overhead the client is causing to workstations is now causing us to look elsewhere. I also have heard good things about VIPre, and we are going to be evaluating NOD32 as well, before our licensing expires.

Yes. I had looked at the Sonus system, but it is monophonic, so as you say, no chords. Your remarks on the You Rock are exactly the sort of thing I was looking for. Functionally, they look ideal but replacement string requirements and build quality are all things I need to consider. £118 is not a bad price if I can be sure they will stay the course

Found a UK distro, Sound Technology | You Rock Guitar. Doesn't look like they have an education arm, so I may have to see what they suggest. You never know, they may offer a test if it opens up sales to other schools.

Trouble is that I need to be sure it will work in a school environment. Ideally a loan example, or positive reports from a colleague, would make the decision to purchase one a bit easier to recommend. I am unwilling to bring my Telecaster and Roland kit in for anything other than a demo of the concepts.

There are programs which will convert audio to midi, Digital Ear and Inst2Midi, but I think they are mainly for monphonic conversion. Still useful, but don't think they can handle polyphonic input like guitar. I have spotted an app that claims to do polyphonic conversion of wav/mp3 to midi, and am going to try the demo. It's called the Widi recognition system by Widisoft. Anyone spotted a hardware solution at a sensible price?

I am hoping that midi control can be extended to non keyboard players, and like most schools, we have a load of "rock gods" in waiting. It would be useful for midi backing tracks to be input from the instrument of choice

Hi folks. Looking into adding some music tech stuff to the music Dept. Looking at Cubase essentials with an audio interface and VST add ons on Win 7. This should be fine for keyboard players, and live instuments (via the interface), but has anyone looked at adding some form of midi guitar to their set up? I have a Roland set up at home, but this would be out of the question cost wise. I know that Casio made a cheapo plastic guitar years ago that had midi out capabiltiy, but I don't think there is much like that available now.I have heard of a company producing a controller for Rock Band, called the You Rock Guitar (I know...lame name). This, apparently will output midi info. Has anyone come across them, and possibly put one to use? Any advice/suggestions would be useful. Cheers Pat

Not working for us. I got the download link to 3.6.2 this morning, but it reports as incompatible with the version of Windows we are running. Since version 3.6.1 ran fine on 32/64 bit Win 7, I find this to be a bit of a pain. I'm still waiting for a proper solution. Has this version sorted you out mrBios?

Just had this reported to us this morning from two classrooms in the same Dept. Polyvision TS Lightening boards on Webster 3.6.1. No recent updates/changes to group plolicy so no idea why this has happened. I'm just hoping we don't see it spread accross the school. Has anyone out there got any ideas?

Can't stop the remote registry service, since this will also affect AD replication (printers hosted on a DC), but have tried turning off client side rendering in one suite. Initial results seem to be promising, but I will reserve judgement. We also tried printing to the ip address rather than the printer share name, which also seems to work.

Hi guys. Following a win 7 rollout in the summer, we are now getting hammered with issues relating to network printing. The majority of machines are running on 64bit installs, and most problems would appear to be print driver related. We are an entirely HP site. The majority of lasers are working on universal PCL5 drivers, but not all, and are working after a fashion. Inkjets, on the other hand are a nightmare. We are getting blank pages, partial pintouts, and garbage. It seems that regardless of the driver in use, original HP, or universal pcl 5/6, we can't resolve the issues. P166DN, Laserjet 2035, etc. In addition the DC (2008r2) hosting the printers keeps dropping the spooler service if we try to change a driver. All printers have been deployed using group policy. Has anyone else had this sort of aggro, and if so, have you found a resolution? Cheers Pat

Hi guys. Has anyone come across this issue? We are in the middle of a Win 7 rollout, and some of our Stone Laptops are giving us grief. MR052 laptops with an 80GB SATA drive will accept an installation, but on reboot, give a "missing OS" error. We would normally use WDS to deploy an image. This is working on all other hardware platforms other than these laptops. I therefore tried to install directly from DVD, but we get the same result. If the install DVD is in the drive, the OS will boot from the hard drive after timing out on the boot from CD option. I've not got an option in the bios to change the SATA drive status to AHCI. Have tried repair installs, repairing boot sector etc, but have had no joy at all. Any ideas at all would be most welcome. Cheers Pat

We've had similar issues with Intel boards. Try clearing the bios, or removing the battery for a couple of minutes. this has resolved the problem for us in the past.

Yes, we bought 20 units eventually. Base units only. They have proven to be reliable machines, so far. One hardware fault within a week of deployment. Called support at 1:00pm and had an engineer with the replacement part on site at 9:00 the next day.

They have been very open with us, including submitting financial records for the last three years, at our request, so we can be fairly sure they aren't a fly by night operation. I'm waiting to check out the eval unit, before making an initial purchse of about 10 base units. Depending on how these work out, we will look at using them again.

I have contacted a couple of references in the midlands who unsurprisingly gave reasonable feedback. It is, in fact Millennium Systems (education section). I just though I'd try here in case there were any horror stories. We've been offered an eval unit, so I may have a look, and decide based on that. Thanks for the pointers though, guys

We have been given a very competitive quote for some new PCs from a company called Millennium Computer Systems. I was wondering if any of the guys out there had ever done business with them?
