Hi Mate, I did this a few years ago to mitigate the risk of malicious code\software being executed locally. In short it initially cuased some headaches but from a patching perspective we push 3rd party software to out updates which essentially runs in the context of a local administrator.

Hi Guys, We have been experiencing issues with auto discovery\IIS on our exchange 2007 server which has resulted in all the exchange directories no longer being listed under IIS (no default website showing). Although exchange is up and running (all be it with no OWA or out of office functionality) I wanted to see if anyone knows of a way to re-create the IIS directory structure within the shell so all the default permissions are restored? Hi Guys, I'm in the process of an exchange migration from 2003 to 2007. I'm currently at the sage of migrating mailboxes which has resulted in an authentication error after adding he mailbox to Outlook 2010. When opening Outlook 2010 with a migrated mailbox on my new 2007 exchange server the users are being prompted to anter there AD username and password. Is there anyway to disable this bearing in mind that the user has allready authenticated agains AD at login? Thanks Matt

I'm trying to configure 2 RAID arrays on a Dell R410 server which seems to be problematic. The server has a PERC6i card installed along with the factory shipped LSI SAS controller. When looking at the RAID configuration from the BIOS I cant see any physical drives although there are 4x 1TB drives attached to the drive bays at the front. The PERC6i card I have is attached to to a riser and which was shipped as part of the initial server build and also has the LSI SAS controller attached, there is a SAS cable that runs from the hot plug back plane (HDD backplane) to the riser which all seems to be working but no physical drives are being detected or showing in the RAID configuration. Bios has SATA mode set to RAID. Could the issue be that the Perc card Im using is incompatible or is there something else Im missing? Thanks Matt

RDP is used on both servers and workstations, regardless of the platform or architecture this is apparent on al hosts.

Head Bashing! tried a whole range of things ranging from RDP config through to repairing the OS without much luck, cleared cached credentials and still no joy!! Arghh!

Some servers have 2 nics but the majority only have a single interface, still having issues with this although I have not had much time to investigate any further recently.

One of this firsts things i did was remove the PC from the domain and re-added it, still no joy.

LAN 100Mbps via Cisco switch to backbone of network tracert and ping responses seem fine.

All of the above has already been done with no joy Im afraid.

Hi Guys, tried the registry key fix which didn't resolve the the issue as well as creating a new user profile. This issue is also present using a different accounts both domain user and domain admin. Matt

I had come across this last week and gave it a try, unfortunately still no joy I'm afraid.

Tried this before posting, both with host name and IP address still the same issue.

Tried this earlier as in the past there have been issues with previous versions of RDP and the mapping of printer drivers but still having the problem.

Ah Oliver it is you! just realised!

This to me sounds like a registry issues, depending on what is corrupt try restoring from the repair directory on the system disk. have a look at this link: How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from starting Matt

Hi All, Strange question but one that is doing my head in at the moment! Every time I RDP to 2003 server, XP Pro, Windows 7, Windows 8 host on our LAN RDP seems to hang for ages saying "initiating remote connection" at first I suspected this could be a DNS issues although Im informed that this is not the case as stale DNS records for my machine have been removed. However there only seems to be me with this issues (Windows 7 Pro host). Any suggestions welcome? Cheers Matt

Struggling at the minute as I will need to make a site visit, I have found an identical Toshiba laptop which i believe works! therefore im going to take images from both and clone the working device and see if this works!

Yeah, on my vaio I can ping\communicate with hosts at all sites\locations without issues on the same subnet! Im kind of happy now that its not just me that was banging my head against a wall!

I cant ping the gateway(10.0.240.240) as ICMP\PING requests to the gateway are blocked. I have tested this on 3 laptops toshiba failed but both vaio and dell worked fine! I agree weird!

Hi Guys, I rebuilt the laptop yesterday afternoon to try and remove any possibilities of the firewall being an issue. At the moment this is a clean built with purely drivers installed and local access to the LAN (Windows Firewall Disabled). Screenshot below IpConfigAll.bmp
