  1. Has anyone any advice/experience on installing Hodder Adaptive Reading Scales across their network? I can install it using Group Policy, but I need to amend the file Network.ini (in C:\ProgramData\Hodder Education\Adaptive Reading Scales) so that it points to a shared copy of the database on our network. I have tried for several ways to get Group Policy to copy the Network.ini file containing the correct path to database, but without success - I have tried using the startup script facility, and using the Files option, but nothing seems to work - I get the message:- The computer 'NetWork.ini' preference item in the 'Deploy Software Hodder Adaptive Reading Scales Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070005 Access is denied.' This error was suppressed. My only solution so far is to use cygwin's cp facility Thanks
  2. Yes have tried both methods, and tried changing users network credentials, all report Internet Connection Ok. Think I will raise call with Capita, but many thanks for your input, I didn't know about Tools > Setups > SIMS Services
  3. Ok thanks for the suggestion - have run test, reports service ok, ditto internet connectivity.
  4. When I look at logs in SIMS for VLE export I see:- Dsetination URL: https://enterprise.itslearning.com/WCFServiceLibrary/ImsEnterpriseServicesPort.svc Service Description: VLE Web Service by IMSES Provider Exception Message: The operation has timed out Out of interest(?) I went to the destination URL where I’m informed:- “You have created a service. To test this service, you will need to create a client and use it to call the service. You can do this using the svcutil.exe tool from the command line with the following syntax: svcutil.exe https://enterprise.itslearning.com/WCFServiceLibrary/ImsEnterpriseServicesPort.svc?wsdl” However svcutil.exe does not appear to be installed on our SIMS server (according to ServiceModel Metadata Utility Tool (Svcutil.exe) it should be in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0\Bin) It is nearly a month now since the process has run successfully (occasionally exception message is “Unable to connect to the remote server”) Any ideas welcome Thanks
  5. thanks for info ref File Resource Manager, have been struggling with "My Documents" problem for some while, and although I was aware of removing desktop.ini, was not aware of FRM to prevent creation of same
  6. Hope you'll excuse me picking you up on this, but I have so far not been successful in stopping creation of desktop.ini files, and am still deleting them to re-establish folder name. In your solution you say:- "you will need to edit the two group polices as described below" However you only appear to refer to one group policy (Default Domain Policy):- a) Run group policy editor and navigate to “Default Domain Policy" c) Navigate to “Default Domain Policy” right click and choose edit.
  7. better late than never! Actually I was looking for a solution to the problem myself, found your post via google, and then later on remembered the solution, and though it might be worth posting the reply in case anyone else finds the post via google
  8. Log into SIMS then:- Routines->Data Out->VLE->Maintain Export History Log and select Reset Export
  9. Thanks for your advice on filtering Contacts by year group, as we have 6th form here cannot guarantee that all in later years have already left, but it certainly narrows the search down (in my ignorance I had not spotted the filtering options!).
  10. Thanks for the info, have replied to Barbera01 as to my current progress(?)
  11. Many thanks for your advice - not sure if this is standard for SIMS, but when I sort students for unprovisioning, as you suggested, by year I note that for some students the year group is in brackets, which appears to indicate student has left, which then makes it easy to unprovision these. For "contacts to remove from provisioning" I can only see Name, Title, Address, Tel No. So far have found a way (convoluted) to get this list into excel so that I can sort it and then compare with a list of contacts for students on roll (extracted as a report from SIMS), and so intend to remove any contacts not on this latter list
  12. Does anyone know of any methods to unprovision users in bulk from hosted SLG? I can easily get SIMS to give me a report of students who have left, and their contacts, but am stumped at present as to how to apply this to unprovison relevant users, except manually (ie go through list of users, compare them with output from SIMS and select them manually in Remove Contacts) Thanks
