Danzig, look at my post of 23rd January. You have to manually enter all the settings in Android and on Iphone. If you let your smartphone set the email ports up itself then they will keep changing! Silly I know, but there you are. I've now done this on three androids and three iphones and they all work fine to send and receive emails. Hope this helps. Let me know if your still struggling.

You will be pleased to know that you are not the only school which has run into this. There appears to be no solid guidelines here and as you so rightly say no option to record a child who is working above 40-60 months. I've also raised this with our LEA who phoned me while I was typing this!!! NEWS: The Spring Upgrade to SIMS should contain updates to the tracking grids which will allow you to enter data for pupils working above 40-60 months. The updates are due to reach our LEA at the end of March for testing and should be rolled out in April as part of the Spring Upgrade. Suggest you speak to your own LEA's to see if they are working to the same timescales. We have been advised to keep manual records and then enter the data retrospectively. Hope this all helps. From what I have been able to find on the web. Win & seems to be causing issues with thumb drives and no one seems to a) know why it is happening or b) know how to recover the drives once you can no longer access them! I've tried several several of the 'fixes' suggested and none of them work. Even CHKDSK can't read the drive even the the PC allocates it a drive letter! Hey Ho!

OK Maybe it is just my school but does anyone else have staff who can trash thumb drives at will? I am now the proud owner of a number of returned sticks because they are no longer being recognised by our PC's or laptops. Have a Verbatim Store N Go drive sitting in my home machine (Win 7 64) now and it is just flashing away. Explorer etc. can see it and allocate a drive letter but you can't access it. Got an XP machine at school to eventually bring it up in Disk Manager and it said the drive was good etc. Any one else run into this and anyone found a solution that works? Several references to this on google but no solutions that seem to work. Don't want to reformat etc as the drives contain stuff that the teachers need!

Not sure if people still struggling with this but I've cracked it and managed to pick up my RM Easymail plus on my smartphone (Sony Experia J). I realised that I could sync with outlook so knew it should work. I eventually found the issue was with teh port numbers that my phone was trying to allocate. In the end the settings that I found worked for me were:- incoming settings: imail.easymail.ifl.net Port 143 Security none, IMAP path prefix blank outgoing settings: smtp.easymail.ifl.net Port 25 Security none. I'm beginning to think this can't be done. I can set up our new machines on the network and users log in Ok but are presented with an empty desktop (except for the recycle bin!!!) and the start/programme bars are empty. Someone told me that we can't mix the new OS with the old - seems daft as theyre both MS systems (Oh... that might explain it!) and he says he's developing a new front end system which will cope with this. Anyone else run into this and is there a way round it? Otherwise we have expensive laptops for surfing the web! Cheers Steven

Having just dragged myself into the smartphone revolution I have hit a brick wall with getting access to our RM easymail Plus accounts on my Phone (Sony Xperia J running Android on the 3 network). RM Are useless and won't offer any help at all (No suprise there.) It looks as if the phone accepts the incoming server details ok but falls over with the smtp outgoing server. I've tried using the server details for my BT account and also the smtp server details for 3 but nothing seems to work. Has anyone managed to do it, if so please let me know! The only way I can get in is to create a shortcut in my webbrowser, its an answer but not ideal! Cheers Steven

Lost an XP machine lst week when the boot sector became unreadable (damaged sector that can't be repaired according to Seatools and Dells own software). Whipped the two drives out and started again with a new drive and not RAID !!! Anyone tell me if I can still read the drives to recover data? Treated myself to a SATA dock whcih seems to power up and turn the drives on. Disk Manager sees the drive as uninitiated (Drive 1 and Drive 2) but I can't read them. Take it this is because they don't have a drive letter associated to them. I'm scared to initiate them just in case it wipes out everything on there! Anyone got any advice or suggestions? Drives were backed up but I suspect there is some pupil/teacher files that were stored in areas not covered by the backup software. Regards Steven

I Used Rohos Mini Drive for our school pens/flash/usb drives (Rohos » Rohos Mini Drive) Works a treat, easy to install and set up AND it installs a mini version of itself on the pen so you can access your secured data on any PC. (I know it works, use it all the time). This works by formatting your drive into a visible and hidden partition (you choose the size) and you can set the password. For the technophobic/forgetful staff you can even create a restore disk, just in case they forget their password! Their documentation is terrific and easy to follow. Longest part of teh job was formatting the sticks! BEST BIT IS IT's FREE!!! ANy questions just ask or check their website. Uses same security levels as trycrypt etc.

Anyone using OPen Office? We installed it onto some laptops as we had run out of MS Office Licences but now we have found some drawbacks when using online resources. ALthough it is set as the default programme for all XLS, PPT, DOC and their 2007/2010 counterparts if you try and open a resource from say primaryresources it won't open, you have to download it and open it from the laptop. This doesn't happen on thos machines using MS Office. We have also noticed that if you download a PPT, Openoffice seems to move objects around on teh screen, sometimes making teh ppt unusable! Any comments other than buy some Office Licences! (We are saving hard) Cheers steven

HAs anyone managed to succesfully network a Digi Blue in their suite? We have tried and although we follow the instructions every time you log back in the programme asks you to point to the shared resources. Have had a troll through the dll's and config files and can't find anything that we would need to include in the users log-in profile to stop this happening! At the moment we run it as a local install and then have to copy the videos onto teh server once teh kids have left. This has even got a network administrators at two other places stumped as well. My School has an old RM Weather station whirling away on the roof. After much searching through the roofspace I have found the end of the cable which terminates in a red 9pin RS232 plug incorporating a power socket (looks as if it would be either 9v or 12v). There is also a serial to printer port adapter. I have tried various free weather station software programmes on the web and have found only one that seems to recognise that the hardware is sending data but can't translate it into anything meaningful. The weather station has been in school a long time and may have been running under Win 95 (or maybe even win 3.x No-one can remember!!) Has anyone any idea what the software RM used was and if there is a copy of it around anywhere? Cheers Steven Groby Leicestershire

Sparkesh, I don't think it is a memory issue as it was happily coping with 16 machines accessing before we dismantled the network and it has been rebooted several times since! Jamesfed - this had been my initial reaction but another techy told me that as teh storebox was a 'server' that you couldn't just read the hard drive using a caddy. However I'm game to try anything once. Someone else told me it was because it was not DHCP'ing anymore but that doesn't explain why I cant log directly into the storebox itself. Any suggestions always greatfully recieved and will be tried. I've got a couple of caddy's at home so will git that a try. Watch this space! Cheers Steven

We have an old RM network in our school, now reduced to the ssmaster (running Classmate5) and the Storebox. However we can no longer access the Storebox and we need to download files that were stored on there. When you log onto the ssmaster it can not see any of the network drives. If you try and log onto the storebox direct it says the domain can not be found. I have a login name for the storebox but the password has expired. If you try and update it, it once again comes back saying the domain is unavailable. Anyone got any clues or know of any RM Passwords for these old Storeboxes? RM say their support for the storebox ran out in 2007 and are just not prepared to help! Cheers Steven
