Hi all, we've just purchased a few HP T510 ThinPro's to experiment with as a replacement for the current thin clients we buy. We currently have a mix of NetVoyagers and some other HP Thin Clients (Windows based) which are all set up to automatically shut down after the remote desktop session is ended. With our NetVoyager (Linux) terminals this is a simple in built tick box, the HP terminals I created a mini script which issues the shutdown command once the program is closed and it works perfectly. The new ThinPro's however don't have the option anywhere that we can see to automatically shut down, and not being Windows I'm unsure how else to do this (if at all). Has anyone else used these type of thin clients and had a similar problem/solution or even does anybody know of some sort of script we can use to do it? Cheers, Craig

Michael - We enabled the setting originally but we don't want to take away too much functionality from Windows 7 and wondered if there was a way around it. Sonofsanta - That sounds perfect thank you so much. I'll definitely take a look at that thank you again. The reason I posted in the 2008 forum also by the way is because we've not tested the policy with any XP machines just yet and so I didn't know if the problem was a Win 7 issue or a generic GPO server issue. Apologies. Psydii - I believe that we already have the patch installed, but I'll double check this first. Thank you also.

Hi all, Firstly apologies if this is in the wrong forum and/or has been mentioned before. I couldn't find it anywhere else when I searched. Now then, we're currently in the process of setting up a completely new network so we can scrap our old out of date one and do things 'properly'. We are basically almost there with it and are down to the last few policies. One of them is to redirect the user folders to the network share. We've set up the network mapping (currently set to U:) which works fine and goes straight to the My Documents folder for the user on the network, however the 'User Documents' you access through the Windows 7 start menu by clicking on the username is behaving very strangely. For some reason when we have redirected the folders it has kept a link to the local profile copy also. For example 'My Documents' is set to redirect to the user home directory which works but there is also a second 'My Documents' folder also. We've denied access to the extra folders so users can't save there anyway but it's obviously going to cause confusion having duplicate folders. Even weirder is the 'My Pictures' and 'My Video' folders which are set to follow the documents setting for redirect are duplicated but instead just say 'Videos' and 'Pictures'. We thought of running a script at start up to delete the duplicates but this is only masking the issue, not solving it and also is obviously adding extra processing to log on (though minimal, as I said we are wanting to get things right from the start not start off with quick fixes) Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Mirmo, I've tried that but still no luck :/ If I can get it to install on one it will be fine as it's a ESX virtual machine it is running on anyway so we will just be cloning the other drives anyway. Thanks for your help though Craig

We trialed a few before budget restrictions stopped us continuing further. I must say I was very impressed with the RM tablet as it ran pretty much everything we wanted it to. Being a windows PC at heart also meant that we could apply some of our policies to it (all be it slightly ammended) and gave us much more freedom than the likes of the iPad did. Of course the iPad had more of a 'wow' factor associated with it. It all really comes down to what sort of apps they would want to use. For example does the App store with the iPad have the apps available or would a more open tablet where almost any app can be installed be better. In the end we actually went with getting a few iPod touches to run some educational games at a much cheaper price than a tablet PC would of cost but we would of prefered to of gone with the RM tablets.

Hi guys, I hope this is the correct thread for this. We are currently in the process of upgrading all our machines to Windows 7 from XP. Most of the software we have tested seems to work fine, although some of our older software is having issues. One in particular is ProDesktop 2000i2. We don't have the budget to upgrade sadly so we are stuck with it. Although I've seen various posts online saying people are having a couple of issues actually running the program (and various responses about fixing the issues) I've yet to see any posts regarding actually installing the program. Whenever we try to install the program onto a windows 7 machine we get the 'Checking OS, Checking Windows Installer, Configuring Windows Installer...' set up screen and then nothing, the actual program install never starts. Has anyone else come across this issue and is there a work around for it? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Craig
