Thanks for the replies. Im leaning more towards changing passwords. like with RM you go to the URL and it asks for a password and if you are a 'delegate' they you can get in. So i can have a group called pwdmgr and add ict teachers to it so they can go to https://server_name/ and login the can view the users. Thanks Stuart

Hi. I used to have an RM CC3 Network installed but we made the move to a Windows network. One thing I do miss is the Management Console. It was great as you could make staff delegate and they could reset users passwords, turn the internet on/off ... Is there a similar solution, preferable free, that is out there? Thanks Stuart

Hi, I am using a Windows 2003 Server. DFS looks like the answer but when i was setting it up my hand just became tangled and to be honest I did get a bit lost.

Hi sparkeh. If I have a workstation build the way we want it, with the basic software on it could I take an image of that computer and then once the computer is build just move it in AD so it will pick up the allocated software (Via GP). Would that work. Im just trying to find the best solution. P.S. if I image a computer when its joined the domain will it use the same name of can that be changed at the beginning. Hi. We have our network setup just the way we like it with packages on the computers and policies applied and we are happy with it. The next thing I am looking at is building the workstations. I am new to this. I have worked on an RM CC3 Network in the past and like the idea of how they are built. Can this be done on a Vanilla Solution, so say i can put a cd/USB in and start the process of the OS installation and tell the computer where it is going to be build in AD so it can install packages and allocate printers ... I know i'd forget if it was installed to the default place that it would need moving. Thanks Guys Stuart

Hi Guys, Can anyone help? I have 2 sites connected together and we are reducing the amount of traffic down the link during the day. So we have decided to have 2 "Software" shares and i want to have them copy from the Main Server (Server1) to the server on the other site (Server2). This way the tech on the other site can manage software installs from there servers instead of dragging it down the link. The solution i am looking for ideally would be free. Something to copy the files on a schedule, and leave me a log file so i can examine it and see if any copies didnt work. Any Ideas? Thanks Stuart

We have 2 sites connected via a 100mb link between each over. How can I detect the "link state" Is there a piece of software I can use to detect that its UP. we are having an issue and we were told it may be the link, but we dont think so. Thanks - Stuart

Do you have a multi-site config setup? In our Multi-Site setup we have this happening every tuesday, and its due to "Update Package List". We are starting to update the package list on the server just to see if RM Web Launch package on the client PC's is corrupt. Hope it helps. 01HanStu

Hi, If you have not sorted it yet my solution that works is to go to C:\progam files\SIMS .net\SIMS and rename SIMS to SIMSold and run simsinst.exe from S:\ and it works we have had an isse wth our new server and this error and this is how we cured it Thanks Stuart

Hi, Hope you can help. We are currently trying to find a solution to our printing problem. When the students send a document, and say for example the printer is our of paper the students will print it again before going to the printer, then when the printer has paper it spits out two copies of the students work, and its a problem as we are trying to save paper and encourage the use of digital copies and only hard for the SEN Pupils. Is there a tool that, when the student prints the document again they get some form of message letting them know that they have that document in the print Que. Are the printers HP/Lexmark we had an issue with some computers and a printer. The printer didnt show up not even the micosoft Fax printer. Try this at the bottom it worked for us on the client computers You cannot add a printer and you receive printer spooler error messages in Windows XP scroll down to the section titled Now delete spool printer and driver files... Hi, Our pupils are put in the same form groups every year for a whole year so we have folders with the form name written on and when the alarm sounds we grab the registers and they are distributed to the form tutors. The folders are checked and updated by the receptionists i.e. kid moves class. Like you say, you can never be prepared and rely on the receptionist remebering
