Deploy OpenOffice alongside MS Office 2003. Personally I'd use OpenOffice - works on just about anything and, you can give a CD to the pupils with it on. I dumped M$ a long time ago and went a combination of Mac and Ubuntu - never looked back..... Neoffice reads and writes M$ files in .docx format.....
