Toshibas are really good and fit the budget. They usually come with 1 year warranty but the 3 year upgrade costs very little to EDU so should be fine

Depends on the cost. I know HP o a warranty that includes accidental damage and it's not much more than the standard warranty

Very true. It's worth getting someone to do a wireless survey first. Some vendors charge for the survey but I know Netgear offer a free one and then you can give their result to the rest. Not ideal, but it saves money

Well with the Cisco & HP, don't forget you can "bid" them both and the price drops dramatically. Just make sure your reseller knows what they're doing and plays them off against each other

Obviously it varies massively per school but it's worth looking at Meru and Netgear as well as he obvious Cisco. Netgear will be cheaper and it is still really good! If you need any quotes, wireless surveys etc, feel free to get in touch Luke

I know a lot of schools use Forefront but it's worth taking a look at Vipre too. Really good product & really good price. You've just got to decide whether to pay extra for Vipre or use the Forefront you can get with EES

I'm unsure on this one. I dont think any reseller will be able to offer you a trial of iPads. Apple aren't that kind. Generally you can get less well known tablets on trial because they are keen to sell them to you but Apple know that they don't need to. Kind of arrogant really

VDI licensing is dependent on how you are deploying VDI through Virtualisation (1 VM per Desktop) or Session based – requires the carrier protocol. The MS or Citrix solution uses RDP, so needs either a Remote Desktop Server CAL or VDI Suite subscription per desktop/user, as well as the desktop OS. The OEM OS that comes with the PC does not allow remote usage, so it requires either Software Assurance attached to the OS on the desktop, or the subscription license Virtual Desktop Access, which is a subscription to the full Win 7 OS to deploy to thin clients or to existing fat clients. Software Assurance now comes with “Roaming Rights” for the OS and Office, so the primary user can access their desktop from ANY non company owned device at no extra cost such as home, Client PC, Internet café etc. So the solution is RDS CAL or VDI suite subscription Software Assurance on OS (if eligible) or Virtual Desktop Access subscription
