I have large documents in which I have to add links to common topics inside the same document. Every time I open the Insert Hyperlink dialog box, all the document sections are expanded so I have do a lot of scrolling to find the relevant section. I can collapse sections and then add the hyperlink, but then the very next time I open the dialog again - everything is expanded. Is there any way to collapse the sections and have they remain collapsed until I close the document?

I created building blocks/quick parts and saved them in my template (DOTM) file. But when I create a new document or edit a legacy document and attach the template, the building blocks are not included. Any help?

I just cannot understand Word. Things will work fine for days, weeks on end and then all of a sudden something stops working or works differently. I've been inserting cross-references for over a year now and Word inserts the ref with the same style as the para to which I insert it. All of a sudden, Word is inserting the ref in a different font size than the para style!!!!! And I can't change it (except maybe with local formatting which I refuse to do). I found a fix that calls to add *\charformat to the ref field, which seems like more wasted effort, but I tried it anyway and it also doesn't do anything! I just noticed that when I position the cursor inside the ref, Word indicates the correct style in the Styles pane - but the font size is still wrong. (BTW, the style DOES have the correct font size.) Any help!! Ok, after further fun and games I noticed that if I add a \* charformat (with a trailing space), Word retains the correct para style. BUT WHY DO I HAVE TO ADD THIS SWITCH ALL OF THE SUDDEN!?!

I created a template over a year ago that I have been using without problem - until now. One of my styles is a numbered list that I use to write steps in a procedure. (I'm a technical writer.) Until today everything was fine. Now when I begin a new section and select the style for steps, instead of starting at number 1, the numbering continues from the previous list - even if it is in a different chapter. If I right-click the para and select Restart at 1, the indentation decreases for that paragraph only! The next para (step 2) is indented at the style's defined point. Further, I've noticed that when I access the style definitions, the numbering library has nothing selected. And every time I select a number style, Word refuses to save it. That is, I save it but if I go right back into the style, there is no numbering selected. Any help?

I created a doc using my own clean template and then sent it out for review. When I received the doc back from review, there were tons of "garbage" styles in the Styles pane that are not in my template. Selecting In use in the Styles options did not hide them. And when I click on a style, the number of instances option was not there, so I take it that it is not in use. But I don't want to delete each one individually. But I did discover that if I go into Word Options > Advanced and select the Keep track of formatting checkbox, the garbage styles disappear. Shouldn't this be just the opposite - clearing the checkbox hides the garbage?

Am I the only one experiencing this?

It's the last cell in every table. I don't use background or text colors - simple black on white. I only see these two colors when I highlight the text in order to copy/paste.

Sorry but the show formatting doesn't make a difference and I am running SP3. Thanks anyway. Anybody else know what this means?

I just noticed that when highlighting text in a table cell (to copy/paste) the highlight is two shades of blue. This seems to only happen in the last cell of the table. Anybody know what this means?

How do I check if the SSIDs match. A technician talked me through the setup up. I know that the router is "called" Home and the repeater is called Home_EXT. Both have the same passphrase. What do I need to look at?

So I take it the only way to test it is to get far enough away from one device so that I lose the signal, but remain close enough to the other device to see if I automatically connect? Other than that, is there any special cfg considerations to look at?

Again, thanks for all the help. I decided to go with the Netgear router and repeater - and from the same supplier - just to keep things simple. The only problem now is that I was under the impression that switching between the two would be seamless. But I've found that I have to manually connect to each one depending on where I am in the house. When I'm downstairs (with either cellphone or laptop) I have to choose to connect to the repeater, and when upstairs I have to manually switch to the router. Obviously, the signal downstairs via the repeater is much stronger than leaving the connection via the upstairs router. I just thought the stronger signal would automatically take over. Is there any way to make this happen?

Thanks for all the help. I've already looked into running the network over the electric lines - but that won't work as I cannot be sure which phase is in each outlet. So I have the Netgear N Standard wireless router (no external antennas) upstairs which covers the whole second floor fairly well. I have the main downstairs pc (hidden in a backroom office) connected using an HPNA3.1 converter over the phone line. Since I cannot physically connect anything to the router because of its location, I'm going to purchase a Netgear repeater today. I just hope that by playing around with its location (downstairs), I'll be able to get a strong signal for all downstairs rooms and the backyard. My house isn't that big (80 sq/meters per floor) so I don't think it should be that big of a deal. I've also read that repeaters cut bandwidth by half, which I hope won't be too bad, as I have a 10 MB bandwidth.

I have a two-storey house with the main pc downstairs and three laptops that are used all over. I placed a wireless router (Brand X) upstairs in an open area between the bedrooms and the signal is nice and strong. But downstairs and in the backyard, the signal is weak. My questions: Can I buy an access point/range extender/repeater from a company other than Brand X? Or do the router and access point/range extender/repeater have to be from the same company? Does the access point/range extender/repeater have to be physically connected to the router? If not, do the two need a direct sight-line to one another? One more - Why do some wireless routers have one antenna, some have two, and some (like mine) don't have any? Thanks.

Every time I insert a table in Word 2007 the table borders (both left and right) are outside the text area of the document. Even if I insert a table with a single cell on a single row - the borders are outside the text area. How can I fix all tables in a document simultaneously? How can I setup the default so the table borders match the text area? Thanks.
