  1. Doesn't look too bad just sat there. It's their "pockit" ability worries me
  2. Gigabite Brix v standard
  3. Out of interest, why did you move them off the monitors?
  4. Depending on number of units but spec i have i5, 120ssd 8gb ram. price currently is around the £400 mark
  5. Im looking at adapters, not seen many display port connections. My issue with using hdmi would be with how windows handles the default sound output. Which ones did you get?
  6. Reviewing our refresh, and strongly considering Intel NUC or similar ultra small factor pc for our IT suites. I can see the obvious downsides, less usb and if fixed to the monitor, access to usb and audio etc and have to make sure the monitors are compatible. Performance wise they compete with a traditional desktop pc in the tests I have carried out. Anyone using a suite of these? if so what have you encountered? do you regret it? I currently have an intel nuc, VeryPC nano sketch and a gigabyte Brix being trialed.
  7. No it doesnt, if you want to test it you can order down some demo tests and try it out. start a test on a client, turn that computer off, log out of inv dashboard and back in, log into test player on a different comp.
  8. No i mean exit the invigilator dashboard, I asked that same question. Apparently it is the only way for the dashboard update its status of tests/failed tests.
  9. Yeah we had that too. Our exams office likes to book 40 of these at a time which leaves me with very little spare capacity but I refuse to use wireless laptops I only found out this tip by calling them up and asking them if they had any known tricks for speeding the process up
  10. Little tip for tests that drop out or an unexpected reboot during a test. Not sure if this has been cover further back in the thread but knowing this has help us out To log the user onto another PC you need to exit the invigilator dashboard, go back in, log student on to the new pc, DO NOT START TEST, Press SHIFT+ALT+F12 , Select Recover test
  11. So far can't get the app to behave so pulled it and set up a redirect for both m.youtube.com and s.youtube.com to YouTube.com in lightspeed. This seems to force safe search via the browser.
  12. Thnk I have worked it out, using lightspeed to redirect requests to m.youtube.com and others back to http://www.youtube.com Then seems to enforce safety mode.
  13. I need to force m.youtube.com to point to forcesafesearch.google.com My current rule which works fine for windows clients is set up for http://www.youtube.com I have tried creating a new rule for m.youtube.com but doesnt seem to want to play. Anyone set this up? We are using lightspeed rocket
  14. I have seen this from the same manufacturer Zoom Q4 Camcorder with XY Stereo Microphone at Gear4Music.com
  15. Thanks for the suggestion, although this would produce a much better result no doubt I don't think the time or skills are available in the dept to do that option. An all in one option is preferable
  16. This is my brief Would you be able to cost us out some flip cams (or equivalent)that would be suitable for recording students assessment in music (so good quality audio as well as visual). Our Dictaphones are not good enough sound quality wise to achieve outstanding according to the LEA What would people recommend? We have some 4th gen ipod touchs but from the above I dont think the quality will be what they require. No idea of budget yet unfortunately but they require 4-5 of them.
  17. I never made it to BETT so didn't see what people had in offer but I am planning our summer refresh early this year looking at projectors and replacement PCs. What are people looking at this year? Has anything at Bett stood out? I am trialling an Intel NUC from novatech i5 , 8gb Ram, 120ssd for potential use in It suites instead of the more traditional larger for factor. Has anyone taken the plunge and done the above? What have you learnt, Who did you buy off? Or are you looking at all in ones? Any projectors stand out? I've just seen the casio core model which is a budget version of the led projectors with 5yr warranty.
  18. Potentially money, partially reliability and support for products we bought into that pretty useless in their current state, eg patch management. I feel it is good to review other options annually. Just because it works doesn't mean something out there doesn't do it just as well possibly better.
  19. Hi All Our support contract is up for Impero and other than RM Tutor I have nothing to compare it to in my experience, impero being vastly superior. But as our support is up I thought I would see what other people are using, Net Support seems to be the popular choice. Has anyone moved from Impero to netsupport or other recently? Cheers in advance

    Which UPS?

Just has a UPS battery die on a fairly old Riello UPS. I want to get x2 new ones to replace the faulty and aging ones in my comms room. Attached will be Phone system needs x2 psu, router, firewall, internet filter, and a couple of other devices. Can anyone recommend a UPS that would suit this need. I dont want get something that isnt up to it or go overkill on it either. Can be rack mountable or to sit on a shelf
  22. Do you have clickview? they now have a digital signage option which is incorporated into clickview online now
  23. I think it was the xd232 or equivalent back then. The management software was just too commercially orientated. We required more interactive plugins like youtube playlists and inserting webpages, twitter etc At the time brightsign didnt support these things. Might be worth downloading the software to see if you can create something in preparation to see if you can do what you want to do
  24. I bought brightsign, thinking it would solve all my problems. It didnt, mainly because it was not flexible enough for our requirements so it went back. I ended up playing £100 a year at https://springsignage.com/ to host our xibo install and buy some micro pcs to run the client. Yes I had to deign the back drops myself. On one of them it just runs a slides presentation hosted online. Slides is getting better and better for this.
