  1. I was just wandering if there is anyone out there able to help with ipads syncing. We have purchased 8 ipads 2 to use in small groups in a classroom and would like to know what's the best way of syncing them using one itunes account on a PC (no mini macs or other apple products). We know there are different carts/trolleys made for the sync purpose but we don't want to splash ut on them as we only use 8 ipads.
  2. Cheers guys. Has anyone got any particular website/provider that you buy Office 2010 from for school laptops?
  3. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could give some advice on where to get MS Office 2010 or 2013 for teachers' laptops for relatively cheap price (I'm not talking about office 365). We only need 5 office licences for the laptops that teachers use mainly at school but sometimes at home too. Thank you.
  4. That's great Atari! Thanks a lot for the explanation! :-)
  5. Thank you all for your responses, really appreciate it! I had a few people contacting me with a quote, but i'm still not sure if it has to be a fully trained smart board installer installing the smart board 880i, or we as school can do it ourselves and still comply with terms & conditions of the warranty. Anyone got a simple answer? Thanks a lot.
  6. Yes, i found the video...we are only replacing our old 680 smartboard with 880, have all the power control installed as well, so not a major job. That's why we were thinking about doing it ourselves.
  7. So the wall-mounted ones can be installed by anyone?
  8. Just a quick question regarding the smartboard 880 installation. Does the installation have to be carried out by some kind of a professionally trained engineer? The reason I'm asking is due to the warranty Would the board not be under warranty anymore if installed by anyone...well, a good DIYer? Thanks
  9. That would be fantastic as I am concerned about the Life a lot!.....just about anything. I just wonder if there are other people out there finding the new Life cloud pain in the ...!
  10. Hi, Our school has subscribed to the new life cloud and I must say that we are extremely disappointed with its functionality (or rather lack of it). We never really got to the stage of actually using it as it has got lots of flaws. We are a bit stuck though as we want to buy into a new product that works, but have already signed a new contract with Uniservity life. What is your experience?
  11. I'm an ICT co-ordinator from a small school in Kent and we are looking at purchasing VLE. We are currently subscribed to the Uniservity learning platform ans are supposed to be upgrading to their 'Life Cloud' version. So far, their new version seems to be anything but easy to work with. Actually, it's been absolute pain the a...! We have until April to decide whether to carry on with their contract or subscribe to something new. I knwo there is a lot out there which makes our choice even harder. If that helps, we are one-form entry primary with 220 kids and have an ICT technician working irregular hours (mostly 10hrs a week) after school. I would really appreciate any help and advice. Thanks
  12. thanks a lot...that's very useful info!
  13. yes, they are unicol
  14. Hi there, Our school needs to replace 6 projectors with better brightness ones which is not a problem. The problem is mounting the new projectors to our old brackets as those brackets were custom made for the old projectors. Just to stress that it's only the plate or the bracket that needs changing not the actual pole which is suspended from the ceiling. The old company that did the job doesn't exist anymore and the new one I asked for some help quoted me £140 for the new mounts!!! surely, this can't be the price for a piece of metal with 3 or 4 screws?! thanks
  15. Cheers guys....does anyone use any particular laptops you know work well with CC4?
  16. Hi guys, Just a quick question to anyone using RM CC4 network with laptops. My school is upgrading from CC3 to CC4 and we'd like to buy 20 new laptops to go with it. However, we don't want to buy RM laptops as they are twice as expensive as the once from let's say PC world. Is there anyone out there using the CC4 with any other laptops than RM ones that could be smart build to the RM network? Are there any special requirements? I tried with RM support but not very lucky. Thanks a lot.
  17. Hi everyone, I'm so pleased that I'm not on my own in the minefield of upgrading/changing networks! I work as an IT coordinator at a small primary school and have a fairly limited knowledge about networking an IT solution for a wireless classroom and an ICT room. Our school currently runs on RM CC3 which we would like to upgrade to CC4. However, after receiving a few quotes from RM I'm more confused than I ever was and feel that their quotes are extremely overpriced. As a result, i was thinking about switching to a different network management (Vanilla, EIS, Viglen), hoping to find something cheaper and yet easy to manage. Unfortunately, we only have a technician available at our school once a week for about 4 hours, which means working with RM network makes sense. I was just wondering if there is anyone with some similar experience or solution to our problem. We are looking into upgrading our server along with the licenses and changing from Windows XP to 7. Also, we are looking itno buying 20 additional laptops for our classes. Those would be purchased from pc world business. The BIG question is - will I get a better solution than RM anywhere else, provided that my technician can only work those 4 hrs a week? Thank a lot for your help!
