What did you do to set this up? I can't seem to find any configuration settings for changing the NIC used for PXE.

I am looking at setting FOG up on a small testing network. Does Fog work across multiple network cards? E.G: My server has 2 NIC's that link into two seperate networks, I would like to distribute OS's, through Fog, through both of the networks. The two networks cannot currently see each other. I will be installing Fog on the latest version Ubuntu server. I realise this is a very brief description but it may be enough to generate some discussion.

I have a winpe 2.0 (Vista Kernel) image that I am using over pxe to fix problems with machines on my network (there is no other way of me doing this). Currently, once the fix has been completed, I ask the user to restart their machine and not enter into pxe boot. Is there a way I can boot into an existing installation of Windows from the Vista kernel? I have; XP, Vista and Win 7 machines running on the network so need a solution that will be able to boot into any of those. (There is only ever 1 OS on a machine and on a single HDD with the volume label C:). I can get access to the C drive and I am already doing this to make my corrections but I need to move on to the next boot device. The constants here are that I have to use PXE, Network boot (with no F12) must be the first boot option (due to the nature of business) and there should be no user interaction. Any suggestions on how I can achieve this? Regards

The reason Im not using a server OS in the first place is because it is a test machine, and a requirement of that test machine is it only have XP pro on it. Maybe I need to get another machine in place running the server OS. However, I am currently looking into an alternative solution. I am looking at system restore software, in particular Comodo Time Machine, and evaluating if that can restore the disk to its state upon boot. Then I can use a simple hard drive copy to transfer the OS to another HDD. Kind Regards T Noble

Just been having a quick look at Comodo Time Machine. Looks like a good piece of software. I'm not back into work until Wednesday as I'm on a course tomorrow, but I will definitely give it a try. "Price: 100% Free" Is one of the most beneficial factors of the software. Anybody have any interesting points / complaints / tips about it? If I were to write an application that runs a set number of commands, does Comodo Time machine allow calls to its API or through a command prompt? For those who have mentioned "Steady State". This would have been a viable approach in the past but due to Microsoft's discontinuation of development and support I cannot be satisfied this is a future proofed solution. I will post back my findings as soon as I have completed an eval. Kind Regards T Noble

Thankyou for your advice so far. I have tried both apps mentioned. The Tiny DHCP Server doesn't seem to support PXE boot as part of the app (as is suggested in the post). This would be a desirable feature. The tftpd32 doesn't seem to work correctly. I cannot set static IP addresses (Following the instructions that are given by the developers). Kind Regards T Noble

Hi All, I am looking to setup a Windows XP professional as a DHCP server. The box has two network cards; one connected to the domain and one that I want to use as to provide addresses to a number of computers that are attached. Does anybody know of a way of configuring XP pro as a DHCP server, on a specific network card? The intention is for this to become a PXE boot server on a local network. Kind Regards T Noble

Thank you "mac_shinobi" I have had a quick look at this and it is probably worth noting this does have to sit in a Windows 7 OS, which steady state doesn't seem to support. Do you have any further information on this? Kind Regards Tom

Morning all, I am looking for a free alternative to Deep Freeze. I have a system that is already setup, and I need to have the following functionality: Restore my system to its previous state on reboot Allow the program to be temporarily stopped allowing permenant changes I cannot run this in a virtual mode however as it is to slow for the users needs. Does anyone have any ideas? Kind Regards Tom
