  1. Hi Guys, I am trying to find an alternative to codacademy for KS2 Kids for one of the schools I look after. Codacademy I think is great for adults, but too much for kids. I have come across Hackety Hack, but i have only started playing with it. i seem to remember BBC Click had a piece of software for kids to learn to code, but cannot find it. Does anyone have any recommendations?? Thanks all.. Nick
  2. Hey guys, Over the Easter Hols, we have installed a new Admin server (Server 2008 R2) into one of our new schools. On The Admin domain, there are 6 Windows 7 PC's that use Sims, and one XP PC on the curriculum domain that also uses Sims. I am coming accross a few different issues with this new setup, and I am wondering if anyone has any possible advice to remedy them.... I cannot seem to get the workstations to access the Document Managment Server. On the Server itself, the Test Server Connection Works, but all the workstations come up with the error "Server Not Working". I have tried both http and TCP, but with no difference On the XP workstation, i can log into SIMS, but when we test it out and go to Focus/Assesment/Marksheet Entry, it takes about 2 minutes for it to do anything. Once done, it is fine for all the time you are logged in Sims. Does anyone haver any advice on what permissions we should give Sims users so that they can use Sims hassle free on windows 7? I have already had to jump through hoops to get Sims to work, with logging in as local administrator and giving certain files full access for everyone... it seems XP was a lot easier to get Sims to work on correctly.... Thanks All Nick
  3. Hey guys, Got a server 2008 / XP network at a Primary school that I work at. iTunes is installed on all the workstations, and they are all popping up with "New Software is available from Apple" window. I have tried to search for a script that disbles autoupdate on google, but no luck at all. Does anyone know of one?? Thanks Nick
  4. Hey Soulfish. Thanks for that. How have you found the service as a whole? What package did your school go for in the end? What upload speeds are you getting?? Thanks again Nick
  5. Hey Guys, The company I work for look after about 40 Primary schools within LGFL - All of which have signed up to have signed up for LGFL 2.0. Out of all of them, only one has had Virgin fully installed. Most have had the fibre installed, but that is it. I was wondering how many other schools have got a fully working Virgin Connection? Thanks Nick
  6. Hi Guys, I have been asked to see if I can find a Free Image Editing Application for Primary School Kids to use. What the school wants is to be able to allow yr2 kids to import a photo and change the look of it with click - rather like video editing software giving it an old film look etc. Also they have asked for the ability to Warhol a picture.... This could be the same software, or a seperate one. I think things like Gimp and paint.net are way too advanced, so a much simpler solution would be great. Anyone have any ideas?? Thanks Nick
  7. Hi All, I just want to see if anyone else has had this issue with Dell Monitors. It seems that the round (usually silver or black) power button on the E198FPb and the E190Sb rotates and the makes it very difficult to turn on and off. I have spoken to Dell, who are replacing them all (from about 15 primary schools we look after) which could be about 150!!! Dell have said that they have never heard of this issue before, but I know for a fact we sent back a bunch a couple of years ago with this issue. These are not just pupil machines, as I have a few from admin offices to send back too. Anyone else had this?? Thanks Nick
  8. Hi Guys, One of the Primary Schools I look after has recently bought about 15 Snap! Video cameras from DigiBlue for the kids to use. My problem with it is that it creates a folder on the desktop to import and store the videos in, which for the life of me I cannot change the location. This is bad, as all the pupil logins share the same desktop which is located on the server. It also has a complex registration for all users everytime they log in. It also can't seem to be used in any other program, apart from Snap! Video editor. I have contacted Digital Blue asking about changing the default folders aswell as network install, who then sent me the following useful email "Thank you for your interest in Digital Blue! Our software was only designed to be installed on an Administrative account on the local PC. This then would allow Limited or Power Users on the local PC to access the software. We unfortunately do not offer network software or support for our products. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. If you have any other questions, please reply to this e-mail." I did reply, but have not recieved any repsonse, even though I have emailed them again, and set up a new support request. Anyway has anyone else used this software before, or know of a way to get DigitalBlue cameras to work with something useful like Windows Movie Maker?? Many Thanks in advance... Nick
