  9. They are a mixture of makes and models. the gpo I tried was solely to remove the usb selective suspend feature. I have replicated the problem with a test pc I have. Drawing a lot of blanks!
  10. Hi Peops, I have a weird issue happening on the network. All pc's are windows 7 32bit. When staff try to switch user and logon, the keyboard and mouse (if usb) seem to lock up. To get them back up i need to either restart the pc or disconnect and reconnect the usb cables for both devices.PS2 is fine. I did some googling and found the power management feature called USB selective suspend could be the culprit. From what i found on the net i managed to disable this feature via reg edit GPO. When i log on to the pc and go in to power management USB selective suspend is disabled so im confident that the reg GPO is working. However it still locks the USB devices up on switch user. This happens on all staff workstations. Any ideas?
  11. I have tried that. still no joy. I even tried a manual install, still nothing. I forgot to mention, AB is pushed out via GPO
  12. Hi Folks A strange one. we have recently upgraded to AB v7. we have updated the existing clients from within AB which is fine. all is well so far. However, on newly imaged pc's, the client is installing but it is not being seen at all on the teacher control PC. I've got this problem in all my ICT rooms as all have been imaged. Prior to imaging, running version 6 was fine. Now nothing. Firewall is turned off internally. Any ideas?
  13. Its a server 2008 r2 environment. Installing is the easy bit. Its when both flash and java popup on the desktop saying there is an update, do you want to download. when staff try to update it it fails as they dont have the rights to install.
  14. Hi As the title suggests, i want staff to be able to update flash and java if its possible. Any ideas? UAC is enabled. Cheers
  15. Hi Im trying to disable the open file security popup for when users click on a start menu icon (redirected start menu). I have made sure that the domain name is in the trusted sites with the following File://*.domain.local - This should allow everything from within my domain. Co incidentally, i made a change to UAC last week so it wasn't so stringent. Could this have had an impact? Everything i have tried doesn't seem to work. its getting up everyone's noses that they have to click on open on icons. Any ideas?
  16. how about any issues with sims when it runs an upgrade on the workstation under teacher logon?
  17. I turned UAC on to its highest level via GPO. Tested it on two workstations after two restarts and it seems to be working. Fingers crossed for the other 698 workstations I have left. Are there any pitfalls to watch out for with having UAC turned on?
  18. Hi It doesn't actually prompt them to enter in alternate credentials. its just works for them?
  19. UAC is off at GPO level. Any ideas?
  20. Hi Folks, I was hoping someone might know the answer to the following please. I'm trying to lock down games within school. I have setup a software restriction policy disabling all applications which works a treat. However, I have found that if you right click your application and run it as administrator it works (Grand Theft Auto). Any ideas how I can stop this? All workstations running windows 7 sp1 with Server 2008R2 Enterprise Thanks
  21. But wouldn't that mean every single stick would have to be formatted by us? Im looking for a solution which caters for any USB regardless of if I have seen it or not Any more ideas?
  22. Hi \\computername\driveletter$ doesn't work on usb memory sticks. Its fine on external hard drives though. Any other suggestions?
  23. Hi All, Is it possible to access a USB stick on a remote computer on the network? Thanks
  24. Ive just had a quick look on google and a lot of the posts seem to suggest that it only blocks the root of the removable storage and not the subdirectories. Is this true from what you have seen?
