Navigate to /System/Library/User Template/English.lproj/Documents/ 5. Copy the Microsoft User Data folder to this location 6. Navigate to ~/Library/Preferences/ a. Copy any .plist file that looks like com.microsoft.something.plist 7. At this point you have two options, 1. You can copy these files to the ".../Default User/English.lproj/Library/Prefences/" folder 2. Or you can push these out using WGM I would suggest using WGM as this allows you to easily update the files without having to do so on every machine. The Default User folder is the folder that new accounts are created from. Any files in here will be copied into new user accounts as they are created. This process will only apply to accounts created after you put these files there. I hope this helps you out.

I currently use it in our mac lab and it has worked flawlessly since day one. On an interesting side note, I have meet the man who built the program. He said he did it because he just didn't like anything else out there, and he just so happens to work with Apple.

Yeah, the power shcdule is my next step. On the whole, I am not impressed with WGM. Having working with both GPO and WGM, GPO seems to be more stable and reliable with the update of policies. On the whole, the entire AD structure, I think, is better implemented from an admin standpoint. This coming from someone who uses a Mac daily, and could be considered somewhat of a fanboy.

Thanks ahunter, I believe that the power schedule was our issue, they seem to be doing fine as of late. There still seems to be a few controls that aren't taking hold, one being the directory status button on the login screen showing on some and not others. It is still a little baffling, but the major controls are holding.

I have a conundrum, a riddle if you will. I have an iMac lab with 20 machines bound to AD/OD, with an odd situation. Instead of losing their AD binding they lose their OD binding or do not refresh their preferences. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't, we have not found a recurring situation. We are continually perplexed and I was wondering if anyone here on edugeek had some suggestions. These are dual booting XP as well, if that helps a bit. If you need more information, I'll try and give out as much as I can. Thanks for the help

The best cloning utility that I have used is clonezilla. We used it at my institution to clone an iMac with an HFS+ partition for OS X and an NTFS partition with Windows XP, this solution works wonderfully. Best of all it is free, http://clonezill.org I highly suggest this for mass deployments. There is even a server version for mass deployments, I have not had the opportunity to use it, but someday I would like to.

I ran across this awhile back and thought it might help. OS X Time Goes Out of Sync | ADaMac Basically the post has you create a plist file and drop it into the LaunchDaemons folder which essentially forces OS X to update its time at startup. Hope this helps.

No you do not need a Linux machine setup for this, you do not even need the Clonezilla server setup. Conezilla provides a related articles section on how to accomplish this: Clonezilla – Free Advanced Hard Drive Cloning Software Everything you need to know should be in there, just input your own information in the required fields. I would very highly recommend that you do this over a gigabit connection if at all possible as some images can be quite large and take some time to transfer. The cloning rate is only as fast as the data connection. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I personally would try to spend a bit more and go with something by a company named Kramer Electronics. I use some of their products on my campus to split VGA and video connections. This is the kind of thing that they specialize in and they actually have exactly the product you are looking for; VS-121HCA - Umschalter - Kramer Electronics it is a bit on the pricey side ($796 US) but it is something that would be well worth the upfront expense. p.s. I am looking for a way to control multiple TVs (Sharp) over RS-232c from a central location. At the University I work for, we have a few classrooms that have more than one TV in them as they are too big to just have one in. I would love to be able to have professors have a central control box to turn the TVs on at the same time, and switch the inputs, control volume, etc... without having to repeat processes or honestly mess something up.
