HI We have Frontpage 2003 in a classroom, we do not run roaming profiles and the C: drive is out of bounds for students. The problem is that when a student creates a theme and then reboots the theme is gone. When i've done some digging i found out that it saves the themes to a set location on the C: drive. Would it be possible to redirect the themes save folder to the users network area. Alan

HI, thanks to everyone for all the info on this. This is what i have done, i got some of the info from another forum so i cannot take the credit for this, Im just passing the info on. To rectify the problem a script called Rights.cmd is run on login via a GPO that removes the rights of Administrators and Staff from reading the ini file and therefore you see the users home directory correctly. Rights.cmd %windir%\system32\icacls.exe %homedrive%\Desktop.ini /deny "Domain Admins":r %windir%\system32\icacls.exe %homedrive%\Desktop.ini /deny Administrators:r %windir%\system32\icacls.exe %homedrive%\Desktop.ini /deny Staff:r

Ok, i have a setting in a gpo that runs a bat file that removes the file. However, windows must create this file just after login, so the file comes back. I have done the same on the logout script, but it means while the student is logged in, the folder is called my documents. I have tried the settings in the gpo that has been mentioned for not creating them, but it does not work in out enviroment. alan.

I have setup a gpo to delete the desktop ini file, but it errors. It cannot delete because it does not have permission. Any ideas on how to get the gpo to delete it correctly. alan.

HI Ok, we have a network share for all users in the college. So an example would be \\server1\users$\user1 This has been fine while we have been using windows xp, but we are now testing Windows 7 and I have noticed that peoples homepace has now been changed from \user1 to my documents. Ok, deploying windows 7 to a college, using GPO to alter the users desktop. How do I remove the “Users folder” icon from the desktop via a GPO. I have enabled the “Remove my document icon on the desktop” setting but I think this is for XP rather than Win 7. Can anybody help. Alan.

I think that it could be something within the users profile, as if i use a new test user it seems to work ok. I will keep investigating and let you know if i find something. Alan.

HI I have been given the task of rolling out windows 7 to a college network. I have had some problems with redirecting the start menu to a network share. The current problem is that whatever icon (for a program) is place into the network folder, two icons turn up on the “all programs” tab. Any ideas. Alan.
