  1. We are currently using old Windows CE clients and are looking to upgrade them to a newer model. One issue that I am having is that Ctrl+Alt+Delete is bringing up the security options on the Thin Client, and not passing through to the Citrix Session. This wasn't the behaviour with our CE models (Wyse V30LE - Old; Wyse D90D7 - New) Has anyone else experienced the same problem or found a way to resolve this? It will confuse our end users if they aren't able to do a Ctrl+Alt+Delete and Lock Workstation/Change Password... Thanks, Mike.
  2. I'm looking to put Kensington locks on everything here, with a single key. Ideally looking for a double headed lock so I can lock the terminal and the screen. Anyone know any good suppliers and prices? I've been quoted £38 per unit ex VAT at the moment which is over double what I want to be paying. Looking to buy around 300 in total.
  3. OK - thanks for the suggestions. I've been trying to use NFS and have shared a test folder as ALL MACHINES Read-Write ANSI Root Access Allowed But... whenever I try and connect to this with the mac it's saying that I don't have permission to view that folder. Anything simple that I've probably missed somewhere? NTFS Permissions on that folder are set to Everyone Full Control (this is only for testing at this stage) On another note, I called Apple - no joy "Speak to your Server specialists" was the best I could get.... Cheers Mike.
  4. I've tried dropping out IPv6 as suggested too, but it's still causing problems. Thanks for the suggestions so far though!
  5. Does anyone know of any other workarounds for this? It's driving me crazy! I was even looking to see if I can get my shares on Windows 2008 R2 available using AFP rather than SMB but no luck with that either... Surely this must be affecting a lot of other people too? Wondering if it's worth trying to speak to Apple about it?
  6. Actually, in follow up to this we made the change you guys suggested to one of our other Windows 2008 R2 Servers that's used only by IT. Unfortunately, it still seems to take a long time to list the folder contents in Finder. Do you think the MTU will make a difference or have any other ideas? Thanks Guys Mike
  7. Hey Guys, Thanks for the suggestion. I'm a little reluctant to do this as I only have 1 Mac on the network but over 400 Windows users, and I wouldn't want it to have the opposite effect for them. Coming back to your suggestion though I've been looking at the MTU settings and I keep getting this back until I lower it to 1272 as the buffer size "Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set". I've tried to change the MTU to 1272 on the Ethernet adapter to see if this makes any difference but it won't go lower than 1280 in Lion - has anyone been able to get this lower than 1280? I'd be happier to make this change on the Mac rather than the File Server as it will have less impact. Any suggestions greatly received! Thanks, Mike.
  8. Hi, I am using a Macbook Pro running Mac OSX 10.7.4 which is accessing files directly on my fileserver (running Windows Server 2008 R2) but listing directories and copying files from here is very slow. The MacBook is running Parrallels too, inside that (Windows 7) it works perfectly. I've tried a number of suggestions that I've seen online but haven't had much joy. Anyone else had this problem? Never seemed to happen when we had Server 2003 but we recently upgraded everything here... Thanks, Mike.
  9. Has anyone found a way of expiring AD Security Group membership? Looking to find a way of adding someone to a remote access group for a set amount of time only without having to set loads of calendar reminders to remove access. If anyone knows a way of doing this without having to install a third party program that would be great! Mike.
  10. Chazzy2501, any more info on this one please? Cheers
  11. Oh, I forgot to mention: All clients are on XP, FRDC is Server 2003 R2 Std, 2nd DC is server 08 R2 Std Mike.
  12. I'm looking to create a GPO that does the following: Disables ALL local accounts other than 'Administrator' Changes the Administrator Password (locally) to something of my choice Looking to roll out to all pcs on my domain (around 100), and don't want to do this manually, or remote MMC to each machine (and want to have it automatically come down to new machines that join the domain - without any interaction) Any suggestions? Only ones I can find don't fit the bill! Cheers Mike
  13. Oh, I forgot to mention - I don't want to spend any money doing this so standard Windows stuff, please!!
  14. Just wondered if any of you out there have come across a similar problem... I have just moved into a new role and want to know what programs my users have installed on their pcs, as I suspect there are games and stuff that shouldn't be there and want to crack down on it. Our Head Office insists on a piece of security software that stops any folders from being shared and also prevents writing to USB/CD/Floppy Disks, so this rules out checking c$/program files. Thinking of adding something to a login script to show me the directory listing and save to a text file of program files? Any suggestions on this, please? Obviously I don't want it to be evident that the pc has been checked and reported back (and I don't intend on visiting the station if I can avoid it!!) And as for the access for installing stuff, GPOs are currently being tested! Cheers Mike
  15. Chris, I would be very interested to give this a go, could you email it to me at [email protected]? Thanks
  16. Well, the problem actually being that when I select them all in the word file open dialog and use the tools>print option, it does them in a really random order. I can batch print them all, but really need them to come out of the printer in alphabetical order (which I'd assumed they would as the filenames were listed alphabetically.... Thanks for your reply, though.
  17. We have all our reports stored on a network drive that have been created by SIMS, but they are in XML format. If we want to print 30 of them in one go (all from one folder) the only solution I have is to do file > open in word 2007 and then click tools and print (once the files are selected) This seems to print them in a really random order and I want them to be alphabetical when they come off the printer. Any suggestions? Mike
  18. I'd like to turn this feature on, any idea where the setting for it is?
  19. The office staff at my school have been asking if it's possible for SIMS to enter an N when no mark has been entered (When we hit save it just saves with a -) Capita advised that this only happens with lesson monitor...but they rarely actually give me solutions to queries! Any other ideas? Cheers Mike.
  20. What did you upgrade to, out of interest?
