Nevermind, I enabled the Administrator account in safe mode using the "net user Administrator /active:yes" command, logged in, deleted my admin account and everything seems fine, thanks.

Hey guys, This doesn't fit in with any other server sub-forums. Sooooo, I recently got a HP ProLiant N36L Microserver and installed Windows SBS 2011 Standard 180-day trial. Everything was 'okay' but it was randomly freezing and crashing, so I decided to do a clean install since I hadn't really done anything major on the server. So it installed fine and then I restarted after the initial set up and when it loaded, I logged in and all that loaded was the "Start using your server" welcome page/check list. No taskbar, no desktop, no nothing. I tried to go Windows key+R to start explorer.exe but no commands like that would work, but it would boot up fine in safe mode. So I thought stuff it! Reinstalled SBS AGAIN(!) and had the same issue. I have now booted into safe mode, checked the registry for an issue, no issue. Checked msconfig, no issue. Ran sfc /scannow, nothing found and I'm currently running a chkdsk /r. Please, does anyone have a solution? EDIT: Good news everyone! In normal mode I can get into task manager and therefor gain access to Run and I can see that explorer.exe is in fact running... Just not... working...

Hey guys, I want to set up something similar to whats in the thread title, like on the HP/Dell/Asus/Acer prebuilt PCs. So after the BIOS and before Windows 7 loads the user has the option to restore the Windows partition via GHOSTing. I want to have Windows 7 installed on the machine and have a hidden partition containing GHOST and all the correct autoexec.bat files and such *NOTE: I already have all the GHOST and scripting done as well as a Windows image* All I need help with is setting up a bootloader or other method that will give me the option mentioned, or something similar. My thoughts are XOSL, LILO and GRUB but I'm not 100% sure how to set it up. This is going to be used on many hundreds of laptops so free licensing is the only option. I know Acronis True Image has exactly what I want, but it is $40 a PC, which is a no no. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Thanks for the help guys and yes I tried both of them multiple times, I actually swapped to Ubuntu to see if the problem was there aswell and the answer was sadly yes. I posted on acouple of other forums aswell but for Ubuntu. Apparently if the acer-wireless is detected and soft blocked even if you DON'T have an acer module then the wireless is blocked on all modules. Solution here and my thread. After fixing it in Ubuntu I promptly switched back to Linux Mint 11 *I like it better* applied the fix and bam, it worked perfect.

Not dual booting, so I don't think it matters? But that sounds awfully strange... If I tap the hardware FN wireless key it goes from "Wireless disabled" and flashes to "disconnected" or something or other for a second and seems like it's working and THEN to "Device not ready" I really appreciate the help guys, as a I.T trainee I feel like I should have experience in more than one OS.

I will look for some WiFi programs now and yes I have ran multiple updates and have activated the Broadcom STA drivers that the "Additional drivers" program told me to do.

Hey guys, I recently bought a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E520 which came with Windows 7 Home, I soon got sick of that and wanted to try my luck with Linux. I have previously played around with Ubuntu, Debian and attempted Arch Linux but always got sick of it after a week and reformatted. I downloaded the Linux Mint 11 64bit DVD .iso and installed it without a problem, but I can't connect to my wireless network. From what I can tell, my wireless NIC is being picked up and has the correct drivers installed and "sudo rfkill list" shows that it is not blocked. I have tried almost every solution I could find online with no luck and I have also tried multiple clean installs, the only thing I haven't done is update the kernel because I am absolutely clueless on that... Can someone help me out here? I am more than happy to supply you with full details of whatever you need as long as you can list the command for me. The offending NIC is "Broadcom Corporation Device 0537" and I have tried the STA drivers and the b43 fwcutter firmware. Thanks

So, it's only really "updated" nothing new or improved? I was also lead to believe that 2008 R2 was the Win 7 of the servers?

Hey guys, I hope this is the right place to ask this. Soon we will be buying and setting up some new servers for some clients and I see that our supplier has servers with Windows SBS Standard 2011 available as well as some with Windows SBS Standard 2008 R2, which is our current standard. I can't seem to find any data sheets on the matter but I'm hoping someone here might have a comparison between the two. I do have an evaluation copy of 2011 but sadly, I don't have any time to go through and find the improvements and differences. Thanks in advance.

One partition for media and such around 5TB and a second partition around 2.5TB for clients backups while we work on their computer. I can not seem to figure out how to partition my RAID array, can anyone help me out here? I can not seem to find any instructions on the Thecus website/Manual/YouTube... Is this maybe not possible to do?

The situation I'm looking for is A. I have also tried "control keymgr.dll" but my only options are "Cancel" We are having this issue on two separate clients computers with almost the exact same setup (one is on a LAN exchange server and the other is hosted online) When the user opens Outlook, it prompts for the username and password, the username is already filled. We have tried all sorts of fixes but none have helped.

Hey guys, I am currently looking for a third party program to save the username and password for Outlook 2003 on a Exchange server. I would also like this program to automatically log in to Outlook when opened. I have tried KeePass but had no success. Any help is much appreciated, thanks in advance. I have never been able to wrap my head around all this DisplayPort mumbo jumbo, but thanks for clearing some things up. I have never had issues with nVidia before... Awesome, thanks for confirming that. I hate AMD with a passion anyway. Damn driver issues are everywhere. I use UltraMon to configure my multiple monitors anyway, a bit more flexibility and features. What about SSD's? Should I get a OCZ Vertex 3 120GB or 2x OCZ Vertex 2 60GB? If I get the two 60GB then I want one for my OS and one for my common programs and high priority/demanding programs Or should I just get the twice the size and double the speed SSD for abit extra and chuck them all on one?

Can anyone give me alittle more reassurance on the subject?

Hello EduGeeks, I currently have an "EVGA GeForce GTX480 1536MB SuperClocked" and I have a 27" 1920x1080p and a 20" 1680x1050 connected to it, I am well aware that 2 monitors on my graphics card is the max. If I buy an additional graphics card like a GT430 or a GT440, will I be able to put that in my setup and run two(or three with a DisplayPort) additional monitors as well as my current two on my GTX480 not in SLI(since they aren't the same card)? I have been using a Billion 7300G just for my home network for a couple of years and recently it has started to drop out frequently so I bought an ASUS RT-N16, sadly I didn't research it thoroughly enough and failed to see the fact that it doesn't have a built in modem. I am now trying to set up the Billion as a modem using bridge mode and then use the RT-N16 as an AP. I have got it to work before for a little while I was playing with the settings on the original firmware just trying to configure it using Static IP but I kept running into difficulties. I have since then flashed it with DD-WRT and now I'm getting sick of playing around and need to get straight to it. How do I get these two routers to work with each other? Whether I bridge them or use some other configuration. The Billion is configured with PPPoE. Pic; This is the options I get while searching to bridge the Billion. Thank you in advance.

I'm currently using a Billion BiPAC 7300G for my networking at home, I've been using it for about 3 years and I'm about to updrade my general computer and media servers WiFi card to a PCI-E ASUS PCE-N13. I'm looking at a ASUS RT-N16 because of the Wireless N, Printer sharing, FTP and all the additional features. The only thing is that my sisters laptops are all Wireless b/g and the PS3 doesn't support Wireless N and I can't seem to find out if the ASUS RT-N16 is b/g/n compatible. If I replace my current router with the ASUS RT-N16 can I use the Billion BiPAC 7300G as an extender/repeater? I am 16 years old and in a month and a half I will be starting an I.T. traineeship so before I start I want to get some more experience with networking, I do have some knowledge in the subject and I have worked doing some networking before. Would this router be good for mucking around with and gaining experience as well as setting up a FTP server and doing some networking with Windows Server 2000 R2?
