  1. i do it all the time even here at work. works fine.
  2. we use gss 2.0 and this has the option to use a usb stick that it formats and loads the drivers onto as a replacement for either floppy or cd so you still need the correct driver which is not much of a help. However there is also an the other option to load the ghost client onto the machine in windows and then set the ghost console to take the image of the pc. This boots the machine into a virtual partition and you don't need to use the driver to get there. Don't know if i have explained it very well. If you check out symantecs website im sure it has more info there. http://www.symantec.com/enterprise/products/newfeatures.jsp?pcid=1025&pvid=865_1
  3. Does anyone have a suggestion for a reliable, quiet switch with all 48 ports 1gig? The 2650 is only 100meg.
  4. Yeah! Like localzuk said, the switches they are sending out NEVER appear to be new or refurbed. Just recived my compensation. It is a wireless USB dongle just like i specified they DON'T send me. Problem continues...
  5. So there is service is not upto par? Definatley not. How did you get the noise problem solved in the end. And yes it is annoying having to phone up everytime hitting a differnt number. The manager says "He has launched an investiongation into it".
  6. Started off with one of exsisting 100meg switches (des-3550) starting to sound like it was dying so we bought a replacment DGS-1248T Gigabit switch as to minimise downtime of ou suite. When we recived the new DGS-1248T it had unusually loud fans therefore we phoned D-Link for warrenty support and they shipped out replacments for both models. This is where it starts to go wrong. We recived the DES-3550 fine however they shipped out a DGS-1224T by accident instead of the 48 port version. This was very annoying however D-Link said they would change this for next day. Did this and recived another incorrect version of the switch but this time it was an old hardware/firmware version (with no DHCP or facility to upgrade the firmware.) Spoke to their switch expert who told me they would have to ship out another version which I have just recived however the fans are just as noisy and just take a look at the picture to see why I am so frustrated by this situation. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h190/BadBoyVTEC/100_0419.jpg They guarenteed that this was a brand new model however as you can tell, the picture says otherwise. Meanwhile our library computer suite is still offline whilst this situation is resolved. The manager also promised "some sort of compensation" which we are yet to recieve. Alex
  7. Ok thanks anyway. This is a great forum
  8. Hiya. Had this problem ever since I can remember. When anyone (staff, students) save a document in Publisher it appears also to save the printer in the room where the document it saved. When a student changes to a differnt machine in a differnt room it shows the correct printer in the print menu, HOWEVER it prints to the original printer in the room where the document was printed. Also noticed that even with the CORRECT printer installed for the room a student is in, when you hover over the little printer icon in the toolbar it displays the ORIGINAL printer name. Any ideas? (Sorry for the length.) Using Windows XP SP2 Publisher 2003 (with Office 2003) Not that it matters printing to HP 4000's Print server on Windows 2003 R2
  9. We have Dells. Best cases. Support has been very good so far. Had a few ram issues with some of them though (as he walks across the room to phone Dell for another broken RAM...) Last year I had to change cases on about 25 of our custom built machines as they had been abbused so much.
  10. Download and install this. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=1B286E6D-8912-4E18-B570-42470E2F3582&displaylang=en I have done it on the affected computers on our network and it appears to work most the time sometimes the system needs to be restarted however then it works. As a quick fix just delete the user files from the documents and settings folder then they will be able to log on.
  11. Theres around 50 projectors here and when I notice the message coming up thats when I just go around all of them with some air cans at lunch times when nobodies around. Get around all of them in a few days or something. Considering the mini hoover idea from western though.
