Can anyone suggest a built microsoft server ready for me to just hook up to the network and get it going? I wouldn't have time setting it up so a setup solution would be ideal.

They will probably be accessed quite regularly and around 50 users. It is basically 2 shared network drives that have been filled up with files and photos over the years but i know people would definately want them at some point. Do you reckon a normal XP Pro machine would do the job and share it that way or would you say get a cheap server?

Basically our server has run out of space and i would like to move some old files onto a external hard drive/file server system but still accessible to members of staff? Hi Has anyone ever managed to connect their mobile to their laptop so you can have internet access on it? I would like to connect my laptop to the internet using my 3 Network nokia phone, this is mainly for when i am out and about? If you have managed to do this, how easy is it as i tried to set it up using the bluetooth connectivity but it didnt work. Anyone got any instructions on this?

I have about 1gb of photos that i would like to upload and then be able to send a hyperlink to friends so that they can view them. Hi Guys I have recently reissued a self signed certificate for our exchange 2003 but for some reason users are getting the certifcate warning error! Internally in school the warning doesnt come up but it does when you access it from home! The warning shows up everytime you open a message or new window etc... Have i missed out something on exchnage where i need to setup something? We used to have a self issued certificate before and this never happened? Thanks

Hi guys Just wondering if anyone can help me here! We have a 2003 SBS server and have exchange installed on it. When the server was first installed, it was setup to self issue a certificate but i just checked and it is due to run out in May 2010! Now what would happen after the date?

I will confirm this but apparently it is unlikely that it will go ahead and to my understanding with the general election coming up, doubt it very much if it ever happens!

Hi guys Not sure how many of you work in leicestershire but I have just heard that the BSF program in loughborough has been cancelled!!!!!

Under the scope for our server the lease duration for clients is set to 8 days, if i change it to 12 hours, would that affect any of our switches? The switches dont have static ip addresses so it should be ok? Also do i do this when everything is shut down? Or can i do this now and wont affect the network running? And if i find the machine name under DNS, do i just right click and delete it? Then reboot the machine?

no errors in event viewer for DNS! When you say delete the address, do you mean delete the machine name under DNS?

DHCP lease time is set to 8 days and DNS is set to update as well! I reckon there is a conflict somewhere between the 2003 server R2 and this vista machine! So do you think i should delete the DNS entry and reboot the machine?

Did scavenge the records and nslookup shows the ip address which is on DNS but then checked the ipconfig of the machine and it is the one listed on DHCP! Now what would happen if i deleted the IP address on DHCP and rebooted the machine? Would that renew the ip address of that machine to the one on DNS?

So far only 3 machines, in the admin office! 1 is on vista and the other 2 are running xp!

Under DHCP, the IP address for that particular machine is *.*.*.40 where is on the DNS it is down as *.*.*.99! Do you still think i should reload DNS? If so how do i achieve that with only one server on the network!

only have one server! The ip address on the server is definately wrong! Do i run the flushdns command on the local machine or server?

I have just looked at the DNS, found the pc name and double clicked on it and found that the ip address is *.*.*.99 which is not the one on the local pc!
