  1. Recreated the job gain and now it works! For how long I don't know but we shall see.
  2. Why does it fall during the holidays? There is no one here to appreciate us!
  3. Hi. I am running Backupexec 12.5. All patched on a 2008 server. After running a B2D I have a duplicate B2T set to run. Now this worked perfectly up until yesterday. Now when it starts the status changes to "Loading Media" and I observe that it has taken an overwriteable tape from one of the slots. However, 19 hours later it is still "Loading Media"! There are no related entries in the Event Viewer and Backup Exec seemed content to let it go on forever without giving any error messages. I cancelled the job, power-cycled the autoloader, and restarted BE services. Restarted the job and again it's still "Loading Media". Again it has taken a tape from a slot, but does not appear to be running the job. Anyone know what's going on here? Hardware: DL2000 and TL2000
  4. Hi, Have you tried the command dcpromo /forceremoval? I'm not sure if this will cause any side affects so may be worth checking before going ahead, but it worked ok for us when facing a similar problem. Pete
  5. I am getting the feeling it is faulty. Problem is that it was ordered a long time ago and so is out of any kind of warranty. Looks like I am just going to have to put up with it. Thanks for your help.
  6. It's connected to a Dell rack console 15FP. Unfortunately I get the problem even when the cat5 cables aren't connected.
  7. I'm afraid to say playing with the screen res made no difference. It's ok to use, just really annoying with the constant screen flicker.
  8. Thank you. I may well not bother with the firmware upgrade then. Will give playing with the screen res a go.
  9. Hi. Don't suppose anyone out there has any experience with the Poweredge 180AS KVM? I set mine up yesterday but the video output can only be described as dodgy. I have tried it on a few monitors so it is definately the KVM output that is the issue. I did think it might need a firmware upgrade but this times out everytime I try it.
  10. When you right click on a machine to deploy to, it is worth checking the config. When you right click and go to deploy there is a Configuration option at the bottom. You can then check how the package is configured. I am installing my clients via GP. You can import the NSS bits for the GP from the NSS install folder. http://www.netsupportsoftware.co.uk/support/kb/asp/kbprovider.asp?gettd=542&lang=EN&xsl=http%3A//www.netsupportsoftware.co.uk/support/kb/TechDoc.xsl
  11. Hi, I think first step is to check the deployement settings. What settings do you have for the deployment and what errors does the console give you?
  12. I would go with the AD method if possible. It's what we are using and works really well.
  13. Ok. It works using IP address of the VC, which I guess appears to be a DNS error but everything else works fine using the VC name. At least I can get it to back up now.
  14. Hi, I'm getting the following error: Could not connect to the VMware Virtual Center or ESX server. Please verify the credential supplied for login. I am trying to back up my VM's with backup exec 12.5 (server 2008). The VC is server 2003. It was set up originally and worked fine but now I'm getting this error. The strange thing is, that if I run a credential test in the selection list it all passes, but if I click on the VC in the selection list I get the error.
  15. I fancy giving beekeeping a go. How do I start?
  16. Hi, not sure if this is the best forum to post in but I have to start somewhere. I am currently running Backup exec 12.5 on a DL2000 (Server 2008). The current setup is attached (this is how the solution was setup by Dell when installed). Backups from both the physical servers and VM boxes, to disk, run very, very slowly (75MB/Min). I have checked the switches and pinged between servers and everything appears to be ok. Also backups from the disk array to tape run at a sensible speed and complete in no time. I'm not sure if there is a problem in the way I have the settings in backup exec (also set up by Dell) or if there is some sort of underlying network issue I just can't see. Any help would be appreciated. Pete
  17. I'm running it on server 2008 and it is really not a happy backup. Was sold the package by Dell and when the guy came in to set it all up for me was told that it wasn't compatible. Really not amused as it has taken me ages to even get it slightly reliable. Even now I am trying to get it backing up a bit quicker, 100MB/min really isn't acceptable. If anyone knows anything that may fix this it would be appreciated. I was contacted by symantec about the 2010 upgrade but they only provide licence upgrades for licences purchased with support. For all of my extra agents and add ons I have to pay for new licences as Dell didn't think to suggest we get support on all these when we purchased.
  18. Braemar Guesthouse - Friendly accomodation in the heart of Cumbria
  19. I would also vote for staying in Keswick.
