Thanks 3s-gtech, Followed your guide and low and behold the imac has popped up in AD. Bringing up internet pages seems to have slown to a crawl now though. For my next question I'm wondering what I need to put in the logon box after a restart to actually get on the network would it be \\domain\user

Have an imac with the OS X 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard?) which I want to join to a Windows Server 2008Domain - having read a bit about trying to do this on the net I'm nervous and would love an idiots guide if there is one? I have the Directory Utility open and see that it has various things enabled (Local, LDAPv3, and BSD Flat Files and NIS) and Active Directory is not ticked (all these listed as version 6.0) am I right in thinking that I need to enable Active Directory to start or is this an Active Directory on the imac? I'm thinking I need to next go to Utilities next but from there I'm at sea??

Our Network has Virtual CD V6 on it which distributes various programmes to the XP Pro workstations. Recently some users trying to run say MS Office (2003 version) get a message coming uyp telling them that they need to access the original programme which should contain SP2. I'm pretty sure that the version in the home of the Virtual is without SP2. Files listed in the Officer 11 folder are: Office11.000 Office11.htm Office11.ico Office11.vbl Office11.jpg and Office11.vc4 Without finding the SP2 from the folder the programme eventually runs OK anyhow but it's a slowdown. Also today, probably seperate issue students using Word have been able to pull up Wordart - looks like their work displays but when they click OK it's gone. This all came to light today. Am I right in thinking I need to slipstream SP2 with the original disk and replace the existing Office11 content - if so how do I do it please?

We have an Epson Stylus DX8400 that stopped in it's tracks yesterday. fuse OK, tried a new cable as well but it's not getting power on board. Is there a fuse or power unit in the device - if so how easy to access is it?

This morning several users have reported that our Internet access is iffy - comes up ok sometimes others hangs and fails. Checking with SWGfL we are OK to our router. Pings to bbc are fast (5ms) However, Speedtest confirms things over the Internet are intermittent ping 32ms, and upload speed just fails in some cases. Any suggestions on where to look next

Think in particular I'm going to find PING, Memtest and DBAN handy.

We have a number of Samsung R509 Notebooks running Windows XP Pro. Everything running fine when logged on as Admin but as a user they bring up a couple of annoying information messages. 1. EDS Agentex Restricted User can't execute SAMSUNG EDS (00) 2. Atheros Client Utility During Installation you chose not to use Microsoft Wireless Configuration Manager to control your Atheros Wireless Network Card. However, it is currently enabled for this device. Neither message is affecting the operation of the notebooks - just an annoying couple of messages I'd like to get rid of. Any ideas how please - Samsung Support didn't have any suggestions!

Thanks FN and Michael. It started off with extremely slow boot and after a few log ons and off ends up looping on the Windows screen without actually booting. I'm at it tomorrow so will try your suggestion Michael.

We have a Novatec PC running XP Pro. For the second time in a couple of months it's lost it's OS now. Initial thoughts on the first loss were that one of our bright boys had tinkered and messed it up but now it's done it again I'm wondering if it's hardware related - hard disk on the way out perhaps?
