Thanks for the reply. That sounds good. Looking at all the features included with A3 & A5, i wonder how many schools actually make sure of these features !!! Do you have any good information resources which would be helpful to me in implementing some of the features ? Thanks

Hi, I am helping a school improve there email security. Currently they are using Office 365 A1 for Facility. Would you recommending upgrading to Microsoft 365 A3 or A5 ? They have sufficient firewalls and anti virus software in place already. Just getting my hand around if they need to upgrade to include some of the Threat Protection built into O365 for email security ? You may say it is better to use the security features built into the A1 package, such as implementing rules etc . Please advise. Thanks

Hi, Thanks for the comments. What is the best way forward for me to just authenticate users on a network? Thanks
-
Many Thanks for the Comments. I do not think I am going to have broadcast issues, due to the number machines on the network. Do you think this sounds OK. We can always adjust as the network develops ? VLAN10 - Standard VLAN for network communication VLAN20 - VOIP Phone System, so I can control voice traffic (No Requirement for internal network communication) VLAN30 - Guest WiFi - No access to internal network. Thanks

Hi, I was going to use our firewall / filter device as our Gateway. I have a L2 switch, as was planning on our firewall / router providing the routing. Thanks

Hi Norphy, Many thanks for your info. Totally understand. As I am dealing with a small school network, and I am not on site all the time, I was thinking of the following : - VLAN10 - Standard VLAN for network communication VLAN20 - VOIP Phone System, so I can control voice traffic (No Requirement for internal network communication) VLAN30 - Guest WiFi - No access to internal network. What are your thoughts?

Hi, I am looking to introduce VLANS to a small special school network. Teacher / Student / School Admin - VLAN10 (192.168.10.x) - They access the same server / printer. Guest Network - VLAN20 (192.168.50.x) - Need to provide only internet access and no access to printers / server. I know VLAN10 have a few groups, but they all access the same server and printers. Was thinking of having printers (2 x Copiers) on a separate VLAN, but is this necessary for such a small network ? Look forward to you comments. Thanks Robert

Hi, I am looking setup a complete brand new network. Would you use a Local AD or would you consider moving to Azure AD ? Do you know where I can find some good articules regarding Azure AD and the process of creating the "domain" in the cloud !!! Many Thanks
-
Hi, Thanks for the comments. How does intune compare to AD ? Do you still Ctrl + Alt + Delete to login to the device ? Thanks Any more info would be great
-
Thanks Currently they are all stand-alone devices ( I have over specced the 40 currently, but looking at potentially number of devices in a few years time). Is AD the way forward to have a better managed system ?

Hi All, I am looking to support a small / medium business who have grown in the past few years. Total number of users is 40. Total number of devices 40 (inc 20 iPads) Which server would you recommend to provide AD to this type of environment. What are you thoughts on the HPE MicroServer Gen10 Plus series? As it is a new network (No AD Currently ) would you recommend a local server or move more to the cloud ? Your thoughts and recommendations please. Thanks

Thanks for the comments. If you were setting up a new server today, how would you go about it (no requirement for RDP). Would you used azure based DC or use a physical server on-site. Thanks

Hi, Just been looking at Relay and wondering if this meets the UK Safer Internet Centre, as they state filtering should be applied at 'network level' i.e not reliant on any software. I was under the impression Relay was agent based ? Please confirm - The report on the website is for lightspeed in 2017. I assume this was for a diffrent version of lightspeed filtering. Thanks

rlculver replied to rlculver's topic in Network and Classroom Management

Hi, I have a friend who is starting a new business. His requirements are for 5 - 6 people to RDP into a solution to get there email / Word, Excel & Powerpoint. Would Azure be a solution or would a requirement of a physical Server running Windows server 2019 be best? All workers will be remote and not necessary have a desktop machine in the office. Please advise. Thanks Robert
